They literally crammed like 2000 pages of manga into one 2 hour film. The movie was a literal spaghetti story. It definitely inspired a lot of other works and was ahead of its time. It brought anime to the west, but we brought anime to the east with mickey mouse. It took like 40 years for good stuff to come out of it, and then we later ripped Avatar the Last Airbender from the east which is peak western cartoon.

I already told you, I've been watching anime since fkn Saint Seiya in the 80s and early 90s as a kid. You keep coping with this "oh you'll see it's overrated" when anime has only gotten bigger, better, more worldwide appeal.

What's a good anime to check out? Preferably something with ~100 or less episodes (no 400 hour commitments pls) and currently ongoing would be cool too.

Made in Abyss is pretty good. Its at like 24 episodes and a movie. Takes like 5-6 episodes to get into. Hated the character art. Also Neon Genesis Evangelion is at like 24 episodes. Demon Slayer is at like 36 right now and a movie.

I dont think i could watch dragon ball z nowadays but I know I loved it as a teenager/kid. I even vhs recorded the episodes when it ran on tv.

I do watch attack on titan though. I think the first seasons were good but the whole outside world story i dont really like. I liked it when there was a mistery what the outside world looked like.

Brutal. Nickelodeon still dominates over here too.

Batman and Superman were probably the only cartoons I watched that stack up to good anime.

DBZ is pretty GOAT but I can see how some people might think it's overrated. Super and GT stained one of the GOAT Shonen animes.

Attack on Titan is easily the most overrated piece of trash I've ever watched. Trash tier pacing and story telling. Every single episode is 90% kids sitting around crying about how scared they are, reiterating the same dialogue over and over and over. Eventually they get brave and then fight, and then get their ass kicked. Repeat for 30 episodes. The entire season 1 could have been condensed into like 4-5 episodes tops and nothing would be lost

Tried watching Demon Slayer, it sucks but clearly made for small children so I won't judge it harshly

DBZ is clearly GOAT and if you disagree you are just incorrect

grew up in Hongkong in the 80s and 90s, bro. Never had to search for anime. Saint Seiya, Dragon Ball, Samurai Pizza Cat, etc., was on regular ass TV everyday.
