The parents are all sad and regretful now but I imagine they were super overbearing and put a chitload of pressure on him.

I'll never understand how suicide is the best option in these situations though. If you're legit suicidal, you have nothing to lose. Get a baseball bat and wrap it around the main bully's head. What's the worst that could happen? Expulsion? Isn't that what he wanted?

It's sad that kids like this don't see other ways out.

Today, if your reputation gets fuked, especially with the younger generation, you're fuked.

In old days, you could just move.

Now, with social media, you can't escape (even if you delete your own social media). Smear campaigns will run whether you are online or not, just look at your cities FB page of "is anyone else dating this guy?" Where women can smear you with no repercussions.

Sad story.

And shows that money and education don't equate to good sense. His mom is a psychologist and his parents can afford this expensive school, but the didn't have the brains to move him to a different school.

Kids don't realize the finality of death. How absolute and immutable it is. Just recently there was a 16 yr old who killed herself because she received a detention.

It breaks my heart how so many kids feel so alone in this world, and like they have no one to reach out to or communicate with when things get difficult, despite how much more "connected" the world seems, but that's merely on a surface level.

loneliness/mental illness is already an endemic which I feel is gonna get worse in the coming years

Seems like a good dude. Someone needs to teach these kids to soldier-up in these situations. There are people who commit actual crimes (frequently) and dgaf so at least he should have held on till justice gets served.
