I wfh but never minded going to the office back when I did it. The drive was actually a good thing. Best ideas come to me when driving. Was a cubecel too for a short while and hated it.
When the majority of your salary comes from commission, it doesn't really matter where you are at. No hustle, no money.

I WFH Mon & Fri

During my Tuesday - Thursday drive to and from, it takes me 45-50 mins to get to work, and an hour and 15 to an hour and 30 mins to get home. It gets worse for every minute after 4:00pm that I leave work. (Houston traffic)

While at work, I use company light, water, ac or heat, toilet paper, napkins, utensils, etc. I cost the company more money while I am here.

As far as the collaboration with others. Yea that's kind of non existent. People are still on Teams meetings lol

I workout at lunch during wfh days (home gym), and after work on non wfh days. I prefer 100% wfh. The collaborating with others idea is cope for those people that don't like being home because they don't like the people they live with lol

CEOs just need to let employees bring home to work. Maybe a playstaytion and a few bongs.... maybe a private fap room. My electric guitar to practice....

The ones wanting RTO are middle managers who don't actually do anything and need something to justify their existence. Also, companies that spent a chitload on office space real estate and need to make it pay off some how.

There's probably also the occasional sociopathic CEO who simply wants to be able to lord over his underlings. But I think those types are far and few between.

This is why I tell people it's more than an 8 hour day. The absolute minimum is 10 hours when you factor in 30 minutes to get ready and 30 minute commute.

Looking at your time, it sounds like you lose 11 hours. That's a major drag.

Came in to say this. They barely function in a Tim Hortons never mind performing detail oriented volumes of work and complex processes.

Offices made sense when everything was printed out and filed.

When I went into the office, most of my day was spent fuking around cuz I'd only have ~2 hours of work at most.

Now, I can do dishes/laundry/cleaning/errands during the day.

I'm not putting miles on my car.

I can hop on my bike trainer and get a hour of riding in

I don't have to spend more money on dry cleaning, tailoring, or clothes.

I eat better cuz I'm not stopping for something quick.

All of this.

Going back to the office doesn't make us more productive. We already only had around 2-4 hours of actual work to do each day. Nothing is getting done in the office thats not getting done at home. In fact, the days i'm at home i'm more productive. If I only have 2 hours of work to do in a day I crank that chit out and i'm done by 10am, but when i'm at work I have to pretend to fart around and spread 2 hours of work out over 8 hours because supervisors are roaming the halls snooping about seeing what everyones doing.
