I don't know. Maybe I'm crazy, but I have literally never been in a position to prioritize vacation trips to the point where I could afford to just quit my job if they didn't like it.

Not to sound rude either OP, but you might wanna consider asking further in advance. 6 months might sound pretty far out, but there are jobs that take vacation requests up to an entire damn year out. Food for thought.
In no way is 16k my life savings. I'll be fine when I come back and could hold out for a while. It's the benefits/paid vacation/benefits aspects of it. I'm still employed at my casual job.

Never put in a "vacation request". Put in a vacation notice.

You: "I will not be at work from x to x, for vacation."

Employer: "You can't."

You: "I won't be in either way."

Don't quit. Call in sick every single day on your vacation and let them fire you when you return if they want to.

How much do you save a year?

Spending a years savings on a vacation at the same time as quitting. You are not gonna make it OP.

There is such a thing as positive drift with risk taking. But it probably is less reliable for people who burn their time and money lmao!

Make it a goal to find one before September, and see if you can get a couple weeks off between jobs after you put in the 2 weeks notice, so you can still have your vacation.

Your OP says vague things, but if you think $16k is enough of an emergency fund to go jobless and hope for the best, I'd say you've either got high confidence in a quick turn-around for finding something else, or you haven't truly thought this through.

EDIT:

Meant to add that I wanted off for a week or 2 in June, but too many people on my team are already taking off, plus some layoffs happened short notice - I'd almost feel guilty about doing it in general at this point. Aiming for maybe late July or early August at this point, for such a thing.

I wonder if that would work?

FWIW OP I know a guy who did leave a job over a denied vacation. Older guy who had a corporate career in the past and was working part time at Lowe's. He and his wife had made plans to visit their daughter who lives in Germany for about 2 weeks. He put in his request through their system and got denied. Tried to appeal it and denied. So he quit.

True story: I started a job at a mall department store less than a month prior to my planned wedding day [first husband]. No big honeymoon planned, but did expect a couple of days off.

About 2 weeks before my wedding day the store announces that the day of my wedding was going to be the day of their inventory and all staff must work, no exceptions, or be fired. Talked to my department supervisor who said talk to the store manager. Talked to the store manager who said "too bad, work or your fired". So, yeah, I wasn't there for inventory and assumed I no longer had a job there. Went to pick up my check and the department supervisor was all like "where have you been? why haven't you been coming in to work?" Um, because y'all said I was fired and I thought you meant it?

So, the Horseshoe? The rooms are cheap as ****. Can probably book for $100/night. You can definitely blow $16k if you wanted to, but certainly over doing it on a $60k salary.
You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.

How many days are you going for?
10 or less?

Gambling/bottle service/whoremaxxing is the only thing that will get you anywhere close to that budget.

Makes 60k a year and plans on spending 16k in vegas. Your company should fire you immediately and have the entire HR department that hired you fired as well.

I will always tell people to not quit their job until they have another one lined up unless they have 6-10 months of bills in their savings.

It's not a terribly high paying job so it shouldn't be too hard to replace or even improve on as far as pay goes.
