Being a rentcel is great. I moved to Wyoming to accept a job that trained me to work on Caterpillar diesel engines and power trains for 1.5 years. Now I'm moving to Vegas to work for another company to get $9HR more and I have the freedom to up and move to do it.

My current house would cost me literally twice as much to own as to rent. Even factoring in equity over time the math for buying (at least where I am) just doesn't make sense.

There's pros and cons to both, and it all depends on your individual situation. Most of the people who think renting is stupid either have their properties mostly paid or live in rural areas, or bought ten years ago. If you look at the housing market TODAY in a lot of major cities, buying is a bad investment.

It could be the thousands of extra square feet, permanent utilities, basement, attic, garage, or extra bathrooms. Seems like an RV lacks in those areas.

To the boomers and younger people who bought before 2021~ and they got a great deal, I'm happy for them. Honestly.


Right now if I can rent a decent or nice one bedroom apt for 1k-1400 in south Vegas vs. putting down $60k and still having a $2000~ monthly payment on a house, I'd rather rent.

If you bought before 2021 or early 2021 and got those sweet mortgage rates then no rentcel can be above you with a few exceptions.

Those are elite money mogging renters who actually DO move around and live in the best cities, but in the best areas and can easily afford those big ass penthouses in Times Square, or the heart of London. Quick googling shows there’s a unit on 5th Ave going for $25k a month.

Paying $4k with 3 roommates to live in Queens isn’t mogging anyone.
