Nah, it's all Rap these days.
I rarely see rock being the thing or even metal. Maybe a few, but it is the typical Metallica type stuff. Only seen a couple of Gen Z with Iron Maiden shirts, but can't say if they are into it or just trying to be like the "cool kids."

It is still popular. Lots of zoomer kids listen to alternative rock bands, most of them are chitty but they still have their following. The thing is that there are hundreds of smaller indie bands and not so many super huge popular rock bands.anymore. that's a good thing tho more room for experimentation and it's easier than ever for small bands to get exposure nowadays

The biggest rock album last year was the Red Hot Chili Peppers album, which was terrible (by Frusciante standards) and they're in their 60s.

Mainstream rock is dead and dead to stay. I asked a buddy that plays in a rock band, records in a studio, plays live and stuff this exact question last summer.
Basically you could be the greatest rock band since 1990, but the people that make the decisions and control the music industry won’t even give you a chance because it’s not what they want anymore vs what they predict the current young and future audience will want. They all want Beiber and Drake bs. That coupled with the electronics that can basically do everything now leads to zero appreciation of a great drummer or basist etc because they can do it all on a comp. It was depressing to hear, but they do have great bands out there playing like it’s the 90s again. We’ve just never heard of any of them.

The culture just started to shift unfortunately. There is still some good stuff out there, but I don't think it will ever be what it once was..

It's already here. You can now make a living without needing TV. There are so many good rock bands out right now, you just need to find them. If you mean can Rock music ever make it "Mainstream" again, then it's up to the Jews who control the air waves. Rock is alive on the internet though.

smells like teen spirit was played 24/7 that it got drilled into people's heads. i remember they had talking heads on MTV analyzing why that song was so amazing. literally teaching you to like it. so when the first chord hits, the old heads like myself will actually vibe a bit.

I would say the music industry as a whole is pretty dead right now.
EDM was hot but the music is getting stale.
Rap just sucks period and is dying.
Rock has been dead for quite a while.
Even pop music doesn't seem to have anything new as of late.
Country music still going strong.
I think this is why you are seeing so many of the older rock acts and 80s bands selling out concerts now. There is nothing new so people want to hear what they like and grew up with. We went and saw Matchbox 20 last week and it was sold out for example. People love it.
K pop is big around the world and seems to be gaining traction here in the US. Any big group that comes over here to the Los Angeles area sells out fast. 2-3 nights too.

saw the smashing pumpkins last summer (free ticket). it was general admission. each ticket was $100 and not only did they sell out but they sold out of merch as well. i was shocked. everyone was old. mighta as well been at a dead concert.
like boomers were wearing shirts that said ZERO ala billy corgan. music except for the drummer sucked as well. overall it was sad but highly rewarding for them and for people watching.

There is no money in music anymore. No one buys albums.
The only money in music is online clicks and working people who used to buy albums aren't the ones sitting around clicking stupid songs on YouTube all day.
Album oriented rock is dead and the good music died with it.
The music industry is ruled by single moms and their useless devil spawn who don't work, barely go to school, and just sit home clicking on stupid songs all day.
One bonus is modern country has sort of morphed into 70s rock so there is that. If you like lynyrd skynrd and george thoroughgood and the allman brothers and stuff just listen to morgan wallen or luke combs.

There is still a lot of good rock bands / artists right now -- Slipknot, Alter Bridge, Motionless in White, Three Days Grace, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Ice Nine Kills, Pop Evil, Shinedown etc.
However -- it's true that the genre is not as popular as it was in the 1960s through 1990s. One issue is that many young people today don't listen to rock. I attend quite a few rock concerts, and the amount of Boomer-Generation attendees is far too disproportionate to other generations.
The other issue is that people always say that "Things were better in the old days," so they naturally say that today's rock isn't as good as yesterday's rock

There's also no money in rock, which is the reason most people pursue the artist career. Very few people are passionate in the genre anymore to overcome the potential for money.
Some of the biggest bands of the 2000s are playing in mini amphitheaters around here. And most of the rockers are drug abusers too. I went to see an old band named Orgy, took them like 90 minutes to get him up to actually perform. And it was fukin horrible.
