It was started over cotton production and the North wanting to tax/control the products grown in the South. Slavery was secondary. It was A reason, but not THE reason.
The TL;DR is that the South hated the fact that the North basically increasingly wanted to reap the benefits of the South's production, and the South didn't take kindly to that.

That’s Mississippi’s declaration of succession. Many of other rebel states were as open and crystal clear.

Georgia
“The people of Georgia having dissolved their political connection with the Government of the United States of America, present to their confederates and the world the causes which have led to the separation. For the last ten years we have had numerous and serious causes of complaint against our non-slave-holding confederate States with reference to the subject of African slavery.”
It goes on that way.

You fuks always love to use logical fallacies in your arguments. In this case, you're using selective attention.
Sure, slavery was a reason. You don't have to go far to find examples of slavery being cited as a reason. There were opponents of slavery in the north that that were starting to get loud, and of course the south didn't like that.
What your pea brain is missing is that there were OTHER reasons as well.
Again, slavery was A reason, it wasn't THE reason.
The South didn't like the direction the North was going in across multiple topics, one of them being slavery, but it was the oppressive "big federal government" that minimized individual state's rights, and unfairly taxed the southern states, that they took most issue with.

One show that hit hard years ago was called "Andersonville". The idea that we would do that to our own, on both sides, is very sickening. The war, like most, was a complete waste.

I enjoy most history, though the older the better! I watched the Ken Burns documentary which I found very interesting. Seems peppered with some real characters. Also some truly horrific battles and aftermaths.

I'm pretty sure most historians are in unanimous agreement that these hostilities were the turning point that would erupt in civil war. So yes, slavery was at the HEART of the reasons that started the Civil War.
