I know we all have different ideas of the value of money based on our own experiences, I assume he is just working off of personal anecdote, which is normal.
Statistically though, you are above average.
If that matters, the comparison does not matter to me, but I am glad you are in a position to give yourself a decent standard of living. That is really the only thing I think is important.
I don’t just mean the money, I mean the physical and mental capacity to earn it, again I feel is more valuable than the money itself.

I'm not knocking the hustle or anything, but you sound like you're eliminating yourself as though it's some super exclusive thing
Pretty sure he's a basic salesman selling chit, as in you can go do that

I'm just saying the qualifications aren't that high and most people can become salesmen
Long hours of bullchitting
Then once you have a customer base, shorter hours

However there are many sales roles that require more than just bullchit with customers. for instance, I carry multiple product and industry certifications, I'm trained and certified in the most common security incident response programs along with various product trainings, etc.
I meet with end users, administrators, budget committees and boards for 6 and 7 figure project engagements.
And at the end of the day I am compensated, very handsomely, for the expertise I bring to my organization.

Not going to pretend to know tiny intricacies within sales organizations
I just know my cousin does/ did? Sales for like a cable television place and hardly graduated high school. They grew up home schooled and didn't do chit, so I'm talking like very fuken dumb. Like when I was in 6th grade they could write at a 2nd grade level
