In the metal circles I run in Slipknot would not be considered metal

But who was Mastodon?

EDIT: If you are into psychedelic/stoner rock Howling Giant, Elder, Stoned Jesus are some good modern bands. More melodic music less thrashy.
No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.

Revocation has been killing it. Their latest album Netherheaven was a banger.

Sylosis is still putting out good stuff too.

Revocation wasn't that bad, I love the instrumental part of death metal, but I was never a fan of the vocals, that's why I usually preferred thrash metal.

There’s a local band here (Denver) that I’m very impressed with called Wayfarer that y’all may be hearing about soon

Edit: I guess you just heard about them now

Wait, metal is mainstream? Since when.

Throw in Arch Enemy.

Sleep Token is the most exciting band in all of music. No one can agree what genre they are either. The Summoning and Ascensionism are some of the most unique songs ever written of all time

As far as more traditional metal/metalcore, I have a few recommendations

-Spite "Caved in" (hard-core/deathcore instrumental gods)

-ERRA "Stockholm Syndrome"

-Northlane "Echo Chamber"

-Spiritbox "Holy Roller" (female front led and some of the best heavy vocals in the genre)
355 Bench
565 Dead
520 Parallel Box Squat

Hokies sounds good, but Japanese trap may be better.

I’m Japanese.
