Weird flex. America didn't become a great nation till after slavery ended. Any African immigrants who came to the US like others did, would have been better off.

Would it have been better if the the Irish, Germans, and so on, came here as slaves? Or better that they were able to come here as free people, and not be tortured, ripped form their families, and treated as property?

Not really. Only 15% of the slaves in the Atlantic slave trade ended up in continental North America, and most of those were while it was still an English colony. Europe is really far more culpable for slavery than the US is. They get to pretend they aren't because instead of bringing them back to Europe, they shipped them to their overseas colonies.

Wife and I were on a snorkeling trip in Belize, and on the boat ride back, the black guide was talking to a black couple sitting next to me. The husband mentioned that the wife's father was from Nigeria. The guide replied, "my family is from West Africa too. I'm the descendant of slaves, and I'm glad for slavery. I don't like the fact that my ancestors were abused like that, but I'm way better off here in Belize than I would have been in Africa." The stunned look on the couple's faces was priceless.
