buying a girl a drink does little to improve your odds with taking a girl home, that said though it's probably just the easiest opener you can use to get your foot in the door.

american and canadian men dont buy them drinks anymore either.

I can tell you honestly as someone who moved to Sydney the reason guys don't buy girls drinks here is because they'd be wasting their time.
Random hookups are rare here, girls tend to only go home with guys from the club if they knew them from their social circle beforehand

People are also just generally standoffish here, they're not going to go out of their way to befriend you

When did it ever become a man's job to approach. Men are supposed to be antisocial workcels that focus on their livelihood. Women are the social butterfiles that are supposed to do all the talking. Men welcome women when they approach and women shut down almost every man who approaches.
