Howdy....

My take?

I'm 76 and I certainly don't see getting older as something I'm 'coping' with.
Life is hard, life isn't fair and everyone needs to get used to it and carve out your path in life.
I realize how damn lucky I am to have survived getting through my younger years, decisions I've made and to be alive this long.

So....I'd sayevery day above the dirt is a gift.

But....that's just me.

Still 40 is a kind of a young age OP, there are still many athletes at that age. Business wise - you should be starting your peak around here and going strong for the next 20 years.

40 is the ''dad'' decade - you are still young but are a big boy now

I've not noticed it as you state but I'm not disagreeing with you.

I use the .... as a pause or a comma.
Just something I've used for a long time.
No deliberate reason.

It's called an ellipsis. They taught us to use them back in the day last century. They can serve several functions.

Probably because back in the day, we read a lot of books. The "..." was to emphasize a dramatic pause in speech in text when someone spoke.

It carries over to writing style.

Yeah I know it's an ellipsis I just always thought it was for omitting quotes not pauses but have noticed a lot of people using it as a pause

That never occurred to me.

To clarify, I use it as apause only and sans the adjective.
No internet drama for me.

Thanks for all the replies, I need to probably spend more time with hobbies and friends. I have already traveled the world and have been to over 25 countries. One hobby is fitness, I am still lifting and in aesthetic shape. But I am working a lot and probably need to slow down a bit. Average about 50-60 hours a week. I am taking 6 weeks of vacation this year and spending more time with my children. I have always been a go getter and very ambitious. There’s always been something exciting to look forward to. I guess at this point, I just look at older people and makes me kinda sad what’s coming. It is part of life and can’t stop time, have to age gracefully.

Its not really a concern. of course you have to find some work around for a few things like recovering from hard workouts and the like but other than that its pretty much the same.

Its not like people think. You dont have to start taking a bunch of pills and walking with a cane and watching CSI and law and order. You can pretty much do what you want just like always.

I swear that a lot of people want to be old. Even younger guys will complain they are getting old. pretty sure its just an excuse to get out of doing hard work and sacrificing anything. Easier to just say you are somehow a victim of some nefarious outside force than to do something difficult.

Injuries will definitely pile up but they can mostly be worked around fi you think it through.
