1 - 3 of the new countries are OPEC nations. They are 2nd, 3rd and 6th in the world for oil reserves respectively.
2 - Argentina is one of the largest exporters of soy and wheat - vital cash crops globally. Who is the biggest exporter in the world of those crops right now hmmmm?
3 - Ethipoia has MASSIVE Potash reserves. Remember the nerves with Russian sanctions and how a lack of Potash would affect fertilizer and drive up agri costs and inflation?

So, lets explain to a moron what has happened here.

The BRICS nations, who intend to start a bank to launch a currency that is backed by commodities have just admitted 3 of the largest oil producers in the world, one the worlds largest producers of wheat and soy, and a country with massive strategic reserves of potash. Combined with Russia, no one in the global south needs Canadas potash anymore.

But yes, a global alliance that is forming to reduce commodity and currency dependence on the USA is nothing to worry about. This is not a strategic threat, the white house is led by diplomatic geniuses.
