She wasn’t killed for shoplifting, she was killed for assaulting a police officer with a deadly weapon. Police officers get harmed or killed in situations like that every day. Is he supposed to just hope she isn’t going to immediately hit the gas and run him over? And I’m not even justifying all of his actions. Both parties made mistakes. Difference is, she made about 30 bad decisions that day all based on greed and sh!t-tier critical thinking skills which lead her to that situation…the cop made one bad decision based on “oh sh!t I need to save my own ass”. So yes he messed up in some ways, but at the same time lots of police officers in those situations get hurt every day by waiting until something terrible happens. And when you’re in those situations multiple times per day your outlook is different.

They approached her like an armed robbery/murder suspect. If you're gonna block off someones exits, then you should know what the possible consequences are. There was no attempt at common sense or de-escalation. Its shoplifting, even if she escaped who gives af? Its not even a felony. I don't care about either party, they're both dumb as fuk. I just think the situation was messed, thats about it. There's more important chit worry about

Further movement by the vehicle is an automatic go ahead to use deadly force as by the written rules and definitions they are now cleared to use such force. There’s no counter of you’re being held hostage or unlawfully impeded movement.

No, they do it intentionally because it's a "contact and cover" situation. The first cop contacts the suspect and the second stands where he can most clearly see what's going on in the car to provide cover, which in this case is right in front.

I don't think protocol needs to make lethal force the only response for a $25 shoplifting resistance.

Eventually, resisting law enforcement comes to lethal force. Not the first move of some lowlife who probably would try to flee
