Nah, dunno what I'd do if not work. I love my job, all the stress, physical and mental, it gives me a purpose. Also I pretty much show up and just hang out with my partner, fck with inmates, and have a god time.

Bored: Go into a cell to 'search it', watch TV for an hour while the inmate paces the dayroom thinking I'm ripping his sht up... walk out and see him spend an hour trying to figure out what I did. Joke is, I didn't do anything.
Short cuts to success are often paved with lies.
1/13/16: Massive hernia.
5/10/16: Finally back to lifting, light but improving.

Yea, we're going to a different lake in 2 weeks for a long weekend. Going to Upstate NY for 10 days with a group of friends 1st week of October, another lake, hiking, bonfires, cookouts, just relaxing....…spending plenty of time away, I'm just finding that the more time I spend away, the more time I WANT to spend away. lol

Just over it and feel like procrastinating & complacency (while at work) are really setting in. Only really happy after 5pm and on the weekends/vacations.

Yea, I love working with my hands, materials & building chit.....just gives me a real sense of accomplishment and like I've actually done something.....but I do not want to do that for work/livelihood.

Realistically I've got 25 years+ and I don't know how I'm gonna make it. lol

In theory I could go down to part time work and still pay the bills & could do some stuff that I enjoy on the side, but I like money and not having to stress about it & be able to know that I'm setting my daughter up for success in her life and education.

Just dont want to have to work.

Thats because you are accomplishing nothing. Right now you would be in a position to start to take risk and do something on your own, your business. Thats the only way to scape, even if you make less at first, it will get better if you put the work into it knowning you are actually accomplishing something. If you dont do this now, you will be stuck being the meaningless wagecel for life.

You can't "serve" society if you choose to without being told what to do? Go walk the streets right now and pick up trash...there -- you are serving society.

U serve society and become wealthy by producing what society wants.

Gotta supply the demand that’s the only thing that matters.

If what society wants aligns with what you want to do -- perhaps you need a job...perhaps you don't. At the end of the day you have one life to live.

It would be fun for like 3 days

All the wealthiest household names out there are giving 110% even though they could have checked out a long time ago. Maybe they don't have one individual to serve, but they answer to their investors and shareholders and the broader public. Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger are 90-100 years old and still going hard af.

You get wealthy by providing a service/good to the world, whoever is paying for that is your boss

These people you mention obviously enjoy what they do immensely. There's no rule that what you have to do in life must serve people to a degree others find satisfactory. Tons of people out here probably feel like the investors you mention are greedy and could do much more to serve humanity. Some even feel they are destructive to humanity (Gates in particular).

Nope this sounds about right. I too have what is relatively speaking a good job. It pays well enough that I live comfortably and can buy most of what I want. Never stressed about money. It's work from home so I don't have to go in the office. It's fairly easy to do and/or I do it well enough it's not hard.

Been doing it for 4 years now and company has treated me just fine too.

But I'm with you, I don't want to do this sh*t any more. Probably has to do with a general recognition that this is all there is. Let's face it when we were younger we had hopes and dreams it would all mean something. But now here we are stuck in reality. Even when it's something that is relatively good compared to what most people will ever have in terms of job, it's still meaningless. You're not likely going to be better off switching careers or something either. Aside from a few more promotions along the way this is basically as good as it gets and that's the issue to try to wrap your head around in the end.
"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

Not gonna lie; I'm not happy with working all the time for another 15-20 years, but my job isn't so bad. The hours are good. It could be a lot worse and physically tolling. And who knows, I may switch up the career at some point. If you hate the job so bad, it might be time to look into another career. I don't think it's ever too late to switch careers. I switched mine up at 32.

I think a lot of depressed people are either worrying about the past or the future. What you should focus on is right now, more so than the past and the future. When you live each day or weekend the way you want, that's when life is good. At least that's what works for me. If you don't have something to look forward each day or weekend, then that's something that needs fixed.

If I do look to the past, I just look at all the chitty jobs I had and menial pay. All of that is over with now. Got a comfy job and good pay and it funds my hobbies. It honestly can't get much better unless the liberals shut down the country again.

Yep, that pretty much sums it up for me.

The wife and I had a good talk last night and I kind of figured out that I'm just bored, not challenged and starting to feel complacent because of those things......just like I'm settled into a position and realizing that this is kind of it with this company. Not mad about it and with where we are in life (6 month old baby, priorities shifting, well off financially) it currently just feels like we're in a "holding pattern"

Just feel like my work is pointless in a sense, yes it's integral to the company and we have really big name clients and technically we are affecting millions of peoples lives but I'm just over it. I know that I have it really good right now and I have absolutely nothing to complain about...again I'm just bored with the work and being bored, no matter how much work I'm actually doing on a daily basis makes me feel unaccomplished and useless.....and that affects my overall mentality.

For myself at this point in my life, not at all. In the past, when I used to work more menial jobs that brought me no fulfillment or satisfaction whatsoever, 100%.

So, you're not the only one, boyo. Not by a long shot. Make sure you squeeze the life out of your free time. Work hard to feel accomplished by week's end not only from your employment, but from your own personal goals.

I often get bored with my job too. I've considered coaching kids sports, which I thought would be pretty rewarding. But I'm open to options for fulfillment if anyone has feedback. I don't particularly like the volunteer options to fill this gap around here. I've even considered giving up my career to work in national parks. Might not be changing lives, but sometimes we need to be a little selfish too. I feel like I can't be the best person influencing others lives in a positive ways without being happy, so it's pretty important.
