I used to play 5.0 in the 2000s and we weren't playing in "pro tournaments". Volvo/USTA does not count as "pro tournaments" lol.

Yeah, satellite circuit players with any points at all are 6.5 rated, which is 4 levels above 4.5 (and three above 5.0). LOL.

Women's tennis has come a long ways since the days of Chris Evert and her 20 minute points of back and forth, back and forth. Sheesh.

WMMA is entertaining I just don’t care. Thug Rose is the toughest despite coming up short at times I think fighters like her are legit. Gone are the days of the division being weak and talentless compared to mens. Where Ronda rousey was the man. I think it’s evolved well.

I enjoyed watching female tennis the past with Selas, Graf, Evert, Navratilova, etc. Todays tennis players are awfully talented and fun to watch though. Coco is going to be a lot of fun to watch I suspect.

I think they were called "Open" tournaments. It's been 20 years so I don't recall exactly. I keep thinking they were called satellite tournaments but I think those were for juniors. I just remember that they were held at UC Santa Cruz.

You have to keep in mind that for 4.5 there would be 3-4 players for tournaments on the women's side and no one in 5.0, so Open was my only opportunity after I made it to the Grand Prix for 4.5. Thus my only chance to have more competition was in Open tournaments.

Things are different for men. There is a 5.0 men's team at my tennis club, but there aren't even enough women to form a 4.5 team. Hence I played USTA 4.0 2 years ago and then appealed my rating down to 3.5 given my injuries. I haven't played in over a year. I'm going to try pickleball on Thursday, although I don't like the scoring as I can perform tennis scoring in my sleep lol.
