I thought it would be obvious: Lifting is a distraction from accruing more and more internet points on the misc.
Back off, Warchild.

It took me a long time but this past summer, I officially sat 50 pounds lighter than what I was sitting at in my early 20s. 15 years of hard work has paid off. I also decided to retire the idea of getting much larger and just enjoy being more light and limber at my age. I just feel better overall. It's also nice to not be ashamed of your body and just walking around my property shirtless tan-maxxing in the summer

Pic of me at my lightest this past summer:
Looking GREAT man! Awesome job. Yea, a lot of younger guys loose sight of the 'long game'. Plenty of people look for 'quick fixes', and transformations. But the hard truth is, unless you are just some crazy genetic freak who was born at 5%bf, this requires a full lifestyle change. I am here willingly and no complaints, but I dont look the way I do without changes to much more than just workouts. Everything adds into it. Most are really good things things, like getting proper sleep, stress management, and especially eating.

Coming full circle, I am 100% a IIFYM guy. Also, since I no longer have any hopes of 'progress' I have adopted a fasting lifestyle last 5 years. Not something I would recommend for people with progress still to be made, but I have proven to myself that you can keep mass even with some more extreme fasting. When I want to lose fat, I do 3-20 hr fasts per week on non-workout days. Other than that, I am normal IF 16/8 last 5 years. I only cheat on days I am driving on track a few times a month. (trying to drive a car on track in the AM with no food in your stomach does not work well I have found so I will make sure I have some food in me so I can make it through the day on track).

Anyway...>GREAT works and congrats.

Sounds incredibly similar to my approach. And yes, 100% agree with the overarching lifestyle change. I genuinely enjoy cooking and eating nutrient-dense foods and get a sense of daily satisfaction making familial meals that are really nutrient dense and fun to eat. I've adopted this lifestlye in recent years where I'll cut for 3-4 months each late winter/spring and then maintain that throughout the year, adopting an IIFYM stance while being careful, obviously. I'm also eating around 11am-7pm now. All around, good stuff. I must say it feels really empowering to be fully in control of my own destiny. I grew up chubby with a terribly low quality diet and constant IBS. I know what the other side of the proverbial coin looks like!

everything in moderation. i don't think many people really enjoy lifting they just grind at because they think their body isn't adequate in a more natural state. some people get obsessed with stuff like crossfit and running too. crazy how much i hear of like 50 year olds obsessed with distance running and destroying their knees or other joints.

It's a lifetime commitment.

When I dietmaxxed this winter, it phucking suuuucked for like 6 months, but now that weight is off. All I need to do to maintain it is check in on a scale weekly and eat 2000 cals/day.

With lifting, there are no breaks and no endpoint. If you stop, you begin sliding back to DYEL mode.

Dieting is like pushing a rock uphill to a plateau. It takes effort, but there is an endpoint to your journey.

Weightlifting is like pushing a rock halfway up a hill and holding it there. It takes continuous effort just to remain where you are at.

Brutal blackpill right here. It’s all about Gun and MMA maxxing in 2023.

Everyone “lifts” now. Remember that dude who threw that KC linebacker on the ground and choked him out ?

He had the Paul Walker aesthetic going.

What you don't realize is that lifting helps with much more than just your physique. It helps your mental health (dem natural endorphins), bone density, helps you age better, etc.

For myself personally, the psychological benefits have been just as important as the physical!

Not saying don't do it as an overall health thing, but the health benefits can be obtained while making it a small part of your routine. When it gets to be a grind/"dedication" or you go even though it's not fun, it's taking up too much of your life, your goals get off track with obsessing about body parts, etc -- ease up and find other physical stuff to do -- much of which has the same benefits. At this point I find people who do stuff far more interesting than those obsessed with repetitive lifting and chasing muscle because they feel inadequate.
Not sure where labrum came from. Broke collar bone on that shoulder at 18. Several other injuries. In my early 30's when I was not training, I got pinned in a self-closing gate between the sliding gate and my truck. Really hurt it then as well.

[img]https://i.imgur.com/A8UANkO.jpg[/mg]
As it was explained to me the shoulder joint is like a golf ball on a T and the labrum is like a rubberband that goes around it and holds it in place.

Just like a rubberband. Over the years when you over-use it, stretch it, get inflammation, etc. it weakens and gets micro tears. Usually not a big deal. But sometimes that can result in a complete tear.

Which is what happened to me in a water sports accident (go figure). So basically the labrum just gets old/worn out and is more susceptible to tearing. Especially if you are an active/athletic brah.

I don't always want to workout on my workout days (3x a week) but I do it anyway. It only takes about an hour of my day, which is nothing in the grand scheme of things. Better than sitting on your butt watching tv and snacking.

There is one thing I wanna just get out there and then it’s over and done with before we go any further, and if you decide you don’t wanna carry on seeing each other I completteellyyyy understand, but id rather be honest with you and after tonight n the sexual chemistry id rather be straight up…so I suffer with HSV-2, ive had it for about 3 years now, and i suffered really badly at first tbh, but its completely under control and has been for at least 2 years, i was with my ex for around that long and he’s never caught it or had any symptoms etc and id never go near you if i thought I was having a break out obviously! But yeah its very rare i do get them, maybe every couple of months if that and even then its like one or two outbreaks that clear up themself after a couple of days. As I say id rather be straight up about it now and you can decide from there x

way more options between doing repetitive crap you don't want to do and watching tv.
