Few days a week, like 4-8 drinks. Occasional night out where I’d drink a lot more. Sometimes some time off, usually not more than a week or two

I’ve heard of people having worse withdrawals, needing to go to hospital, having liver failure drinking less over a greater period of time

Good on you

I went to rehab because my chain of command assumed that I was an alcoholic because I got hit when I was turning into my apartment and told the police officer I had a few beers, yet I was the victim in the accident

Long story short, I had to do 30 days of rehab with other active duty service members and the struggles and difficulties that they endure is no joke

It will be a week for me tomorrow. I figured I've been spending about $1500.00 - $1800.00 monthly for the last 4 yrs on alcohol. 10 - 15 drinks every night. I feel freakin amazing right now. May quit for good.

For those of you wanting tk stop. After the first few days it'd not hard. Unlike smoking the biggest detourent for keeping sobriety. And if you can go without drinking to get drunk maybe 2 or 3 beers a week then they thats something but total abstinence is the goal. Stress and worry is probably your biggest hurdle because drinking is a relaxant and does sooth the above mentioned but if your lucky the time will come after you take a drink you stress out more just because you know you shouldn't drink.

I firmly believe not many people beat this on the first attempt or even the second or third or 4th. But the time will come you wake up one day and just don't desire it.

Point being no matter how many times you backside don't let it keep you down.

What is motivating your desire to quit?

If you’re going cold turkey, are you having any withdrawal symptoms? Heavy and chronic etoh use can be dangerous to quit without tapering properly.

So your motivation is to be your best: best health, physique, and best version in a relationship. That’s a great motivator.

Advice—if you’re wanting any—1) is evaluating any daily habits closely tied into when you would drink, 2) thinking about any triggers where drinking is a response (stress relief, boredom, etc).

Drinking is a habit and drinking is a response. If you’re serious about quitting, think about where that applies in your every day life because habits make a man. And response comes from patterns.

Oh, and enjoy the movie!
