I'm dating a nice girl right now and maybe one day I'll marry her. Marriage is for sure on my mind (I'm 28) and I have a great job/salary and I have my chit together. I do enjoy my selfish free time playing guitar, lifting every day, video games, and doing other hobbies, but I would feel like garbage if I'm in my 30's / 40's and don't have a wife/kids. There's more to life than just money and traveling and being a cool pu$$y slayer dude.

Having a family is very important IMO. Guys who aren't married and don't have kids are seen as weirdos/creepy in my culture. Life is short, do what you can to be a real human being. I'm for sure capable of handling kids as I have been an uncle for 8 years and am very good at caring for my nephews. It's a tough road, though, but that's what being a man is all about - working hard and providing

I've always been to ill to have kids so it is easy for me to imagine. Now it seems I'm close to being well, if not already well. Doubt I'll be out looking to have children though. I know several couples who are older and who do not have children. My parents are spending time today with one such couple, attending an art show in a city 2 hours drive to the north of here. That tends to be how that couple spends their time, traveling constantly, locally to attend shows, or going overseas. They recently vacationed in Spain. They also sort to adopt families, I guess it can be said. They become close to families with kids, spend time with them, and spend big bucks. the couple are quite wealthy.

The first time I heard our baby cry out something clicked in me that I can't explain, beyond knowing we had done the right thing.

People are obsessed with health because they fear dying. They fear dying because they are spiritually lost.

Yeah, people without kids and old people with kids who are grown and self sufficient become self obsessed. It's a recipe for depression. We are meant to take care of other living beings, whether it's an animal or human. We are not meant to be focused on ourselves 100% of the time.

Also, caring for another living being releases oxytocin. It's a feel good hormone and it cannot be acquired by taking luxury vacations or eating at restaurants.

Edit: I'm not saying everyone needs to have a kid, but everyone needs to find a way to focus on another living being (can be an animal) and not just themselves.

Been married over 20 years. Had the boat. Sold it maybe 5 years ago after I got bored with it, and it became a chore. We traveled early on, and sporadically since. When this pupper dies we’re going ham on traveling.

Less stress, more free time, less emotional fulfillment overall.

There's just a certain kind of love that's impossible to experience without kids. You don't have to have it to be happy, but it's one of those things only parents understand.

I think if I hadn't had kids I probably would still be hanging out in bars trying to find meaning in friendships that are fundamentally based on killing time until death comes.

Can honestly say that having and raising kids is the only thing in life that is really meaningful, everything else is just passing the time. If you break up/get divorced you can always look back without regrets if you had kids because it means you got something out of it. I had a toxic AF marriage but I got three wonderful children from it so it wasn't for nothing and I would do it all again just because of that.

As men we build our career because we, at least subconsciously, want a legacy and a legacy means children. Why work and build yourself up if you don't want kids?

At this stage I can't imagine having more than two and didn't want more. The second was unexpected to be so soon but now I realize it's actually a good thing they are so close in age because they are best friends and look out for each other.

But I have to say, I have friends with five kids and I have no idea how they even manage time or afford to live. Just groceries alone must be insane.

She wanted them less than I did. We were both of the mind set that if it was really important to the other, we’d do it. But neither wanted them. If it wasn’t for my friends having kids first, I might’ve went for it. But honestly it worked out for the best.

I have friends who have a monthly budget to spend on Physiotherapy. They have no health issue, they just do it for 'maintenance' and to 'prevent my back from declining'.

how do you know they have no issues? and also preventative "maintenance" on your body is actually very beneficial.

Never really wanted kids, never saw the point of them really and I was always a generally selfish person with my time.

My g/f really wanted one but was fine with us not having one either. We decided to try for a year to see what happens.

We ended up having one who is a year old and it's probably the best thing that has ever happened to me. It's a different kind of joy and happiness getting to teach him about life, seeing him smile and it's also fun as hell getting to relive the experience of childhood all over again with things as little as Lego's or playing baseball at the park.

At the same time though, my g/f and I have a combined income of about 250k and I am worth a few million, so we never worry about the financial aspect of it. Without having a high income, having a kid has to be the most stressful thing on earth and I am not surprised to see so many young couples torn apart after they do have a child.

We are 1 and done, which I think is the best of both worlds. We get the joys of parenthood, while also still getting to have our space and time to ourselves when we need it (with 1 kid it's easy for a parent to play man to man defense while the other just relaxes, with 2 kids..not so much).

There are many reasons for not wanting a kid though, and I don't blame most people. But if your reason is, "I don't want to bring a kid into this world" then you're just a fat beta pussy and shouldn't pass on your beta pussy genes anyway.
