I stayed at the Le Meridien in the theater district.

I went for a walk at 5 AM to get an energy drink before a workout - I almost got into 3 confrontations over a 1-2 mile walk and it was winter/lifeless outside. Luckily all the homies in Minneapolis are poosies and just ran their mouth. Not a single cop, not a single car. You can walk anywhere in NYC at any time in a major district without any serious chit starting and there's a ton of activity/police around.

Driving around Minneapolis, I passed some nasty Baltimore type spots.

I grew up in East NY during the crack epidemic, so I'm not just some sheltered twink that has never seen this stuff before.

You stayed at Chambers in Winter when all the homeless from ND and Wyoming get bussed up

In the winter, don't walk the streets, use the Skywalk
Come here in the summer and it's an entirely different atmosphere

I'm in the middle of leaving the state, but the state as a whole is way different than the Twin Cities

I'd probably be turned off if my first experience was yours, too

But I also moved here from Portland sooooo... I only had up to go

I didn't choose Portland and will literally drive 2 hours out of the way to avoid it
I lived in the Duluth area of Minnesota for the most part, so mostly conservative type and outdoorsy stuff. Only lived in St Paul for like 2 years and it really wasn't bad, at all
