Why not look good, feel good and be fit/athletic your entire life?
Its really not that hard if you maintain/never let yourself go. As you get older you don't have to nerd out as much about workout programs/routines. IMO it actually gets easier to be in-shape/a top percent physique for your age group as the standards fall.
Its literally as simple as don't go full retard on your diet. Lift weights 2-3 days per week. And do 2-3 days per week of cardio/mobility work. In a pinch you could probably cut it down to 1 day of lifting, 1 day of cardio and 1 day of mobility and still keep your physique/health better then 99% of people your age.

My grandpa is 99, and I don't think I want to live until I'm in the condition he's in. Dying of old age doesn't look like much fun. He was living on his own until 96 though. You say that as a joke but there really isn't a point in living after 65, SRS. The daveramseycels living like peasants eating rice and beans so that they can be a 401K millionaire when they're 65 are utter fools.

yea,
what's the point of better metabolic health, better energy levels, looking good, and having a great stress relief activity?

Also, I don't actually lift weights much anymore, I do calisthenics....more on the gymnastics side. It involves a lot of scapula, tendon, ligament, joint strength. Stuff that will break you as you age. I strengthen that ****, they will not break. I move around better now than I did in my teens....cause I actually work on how I move myself now. Lotta mobility/flexibility stuff now, things I thought I can never do when I was younger, I do now at my age, 54.

You serious op? Lifting weights gets more and MORE important as you age. Lifting weights not only strengthens muscle and keeps your skin from sagging (looking old) but it also strengthens bone so when you do get old and fall you won't shatter a hip.
