You mostly described my dad's life there, except the terminal illness part. He and my mom retired at age 62, he worked his balls off, she worked part time most of her life. And my mom is honestly too nice, which rubbed off on me and wore off as life happened. My dad watches CNBC for hours, plays video games and bowls in retirement. We saw all that lifestyle and did otherwise.
I'm the youngest of 4 and only one of us has lived a conventional life similar to my parents, but she and her husband have no kids. I've done sales most of my life, mostly as an independent contractor. I've mostly alternated between working a lot and working very little, by design. My wife won't leave and take the kids unless she finds me balls deep in some strange. I recognize OP's message in A LOT of people I know (counting down the years and months until they can get their state pension) but I also recognize being too blackpilled is a recipe for making you older than you are.

You act like bookies don't have guys who can't also book flights and find you. Mafias have entire divisions dedicated to hunting down people internationally. It's essential to their reputation that people cannot flee. There are dudes who start a new life and die like 10 years later when they are found. I don't recommend this. If some guy is running a loan shark business, he probably has ties to some really scary people that you do not want to piss off or even associate with, frankly.
