Ruth Chris was great 10 yrs ago, now it is on par with Chili's it's overpriced and quality has completely dropped off. Better off going to a local steak house than this run down chain

Not everyone lives in poverty

A semi decent bottle of wine is gonna run you about $50 or $60, a drink to start each is probably $15 per drink - straight away, $80 or $90 - then food

I was out three nights a week with my last girlfriend and we were dropping between $200 and $300 per time, either my bill or her bill

Our capital grille has huge shelves full of wine bottles. Not for sale, but the ones that they keep ready for regular clients. Iโ€™m sure some of it is offices and whatnot, but some people legit live that life. Wild stuff.

I've heard about them for years but never been there. Personally, while I do like steak I tend to lean more towards Italian and Asian when it comes to restaurants.

I can remember going there for the first time on a trip to Toronto many years ago. Jumbo lump crab cakes, steak with gratin, and a bread pudding with a whisky cream sauce. It was really good - a colleague from Hong Kong recommended it.

Last time I went was more recent, and I felt the quality had gone down a lot. Just like what you mention in the OP, red - the steaks were overcooked. Luckily NYC has quite a few good steakhouses.

Loads of folks live a different life, hence why expensive restaurants are so popular.

There are cheap restaurants with decent food that I could eat out more if I wanted to.

I'm not a wine drinker, so I just get mixed drinks. Most I'd have would probably be 2 double bourbon and ginger ale. If my GF wanted wine she could get it but definitely wouldn't be buying a whole bottle (unless she's a lush, and then we would have other issues lol).
It was all about experiences, we were both fortunate enough to be in very well paying careers with investment income as well as work income.

We both still are, but my career took me 2000km away to start up a segment of my business in a new market and four days later her job took her over 600km away from where we were living.

Still smash when we get the chance to have one fly to the other and remain on excellent terms but fuk long distance relationships.

Been there. Was not at all impressed. But then again I eat home cooked meals like the pic below everyday.

When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.
