waiters can and do make 6 figures on part time hours all the while playing the victim card. it's stunning.

I don't think you people understand. There's more to the front of the house staff than just a server. If a server gets tipped $50, in most cases they only see half of that. Still got to tip out the hosts, bussers, food runners, bartenders, and in some places the back of the house. Hosts bussers bartenders and food runners generally make a higher wage too. If a restaurant started paying ALL positions more, the price of menu items would sky rocket. That's not even debatable. Tipping is there as a favor to YOU so you don't have to pay outrageous prices.

hmmm i'd get a new job if waitressing and tips weren't cutting it.

Tipping is out of control in the US.

For every stupid little transaction "It's going to ask you a couple of questions" get TF outta here you pimple faced high school loser. Work harder and become a respectable citizen so you won't have to work in the food industry or retail - we all know that's the work for Illegals or girls to be acting / dressing like strippers to get tips from SIMPS.

I just got back from Vegas (again) and had a wonderful meal at Bavette's steakhouse, old style steakhouse, waiter was a white man, knew the menu front to back, answered any question and made recommendations for certain sauces to pair with the steak, wines to pair, etc. Nice, friendly helpful dude, also gave me a free appetizer and 2 free drinks, 1 for me, 1 for my side chick, for being a VIP member....also knew my side chick was under 21, and was clearly not my wife, and so he looked out for me on that also. Bill was around $350, he got 25% for being a bro.

Everyone else gets peanuts - chain restaurants are garbage and so are the people who work there. The food is trash-tier and yet somehow it's expensive, PLUS you have to tip these losers? Get outta here. Instead of worrying about what I'll tip at such trash-tier establishments, I simply don't go, and thus no tipping needs to be worried about.

I was also in Eastern Europe last summer - higher quality food, nicer restaurants, clean cities, servers that speak multiple languages, yet somehow the menu price is about 50% less than you'd pay in the US, and tipping isn't this big ordeal, you just leave a little change or a couple Euro's on the table. Yet the staff gets paid decently.

GTFO with this US tipping in mid-tier and low-tier restaurants nonsense.

You ever noticed when you see pics of the non-tipper they're people you wouldn't be caught dead with IRL?

Do you expect a social pariah to care about confirming to societal norms (esp. re. "Social societal norms")?

Like what happens if he doesn't? Is the guy with zero friends gonna lose a bunch of friends?
The billionaire and the beggar both have 24 hours in a day.

That's why grandma's apple pie rocks and yours sucks.

Tipping on a delivery order:

Food costs $20. Then fees and taxes add another $10. But you get asked to tip a percentage of the total amount, not just the food.

Plus, drivers and servers are getting more and more entitled. There's nothing about having to actually EARN your tips anymore. When I started getting asked for tips at Starbucks I knew it was over. Just make my damned coffee, it takes you literally thirty seconds.

Absolutely false. With how high food costs are due to number of factors, if restaurants started paying employees more, the price of the food they serve would sky rocket. That delicious $60 Ahi Steak dish I buy at my local seafood restaurant would now be $80. Such lame low IQ excuses by a brunch of brainless nimwits. That's why I'm always tip 20% crew. Don't worry phàggots, I'll keep tipping 20% so you losers can afford to eat at restaurants.
Tipping has gone way out of control. Not sure where you live but in Canada there are now tip prompts on damn near anything. What's next, tipping online purchases?

Anyway, yes, if I am having a proper sit down meal in a real restaurant I do tip generously. I also tip if I get delivery (rare). If I am standing or on an app when I place the order, no tip. To be clear I am not making some ridiculous complex order, I just don't see the need to pay someone extra for literally handing me a baked good from under the counter. I recognize there will be different approaches, I had to draw the line somewhere and this is what works for me.

Can they see how much each order tipped or they just get an amount at end of their shift on tip amount earned?

Before accepting the delivery the driver sees the total order amount including tips.

but the app doesn't say how much of the total order is tips until after the delivery is completed.

so drivers like to just go for the bigger costing deliveries hoping theres big tip included in it

Tipping is just one of many ways we as Americans are cucked compared to chad Europe.

Another larger one is our single brain cell healthcare.
