Imagine that someone gives you a gun and tells you to point it at someone and pull the trigger. This guy did it without even bothering to check if it was loaded. thats just nuts. Thats a true liberal there for you. This is a lesson kids learn when they are like 4 years old or something like that.
Was it his job to know what a live round looks like vs a blank? I doubt he even knows, which is why they hired an armorer. The decision to pull the trigger is irrelevant IMO, he was an actor given a gun he was told was loaded with blanks.

From what I gather the set was not committed to safety, which is what happens when you have a group of freewheeling entitled morons. Set members walked off due to the safety issues. Drug use and plinking on your breaks, what could go wrong? Having any live rounds in the vicinity itself was a huge safety issue.

I don’t really think this is Baldwin’s fault but the part that pisses me off the most is that he went on national tv and adamantly insisted that he “never pulled the trigger.”

It’s such an obvious lie that it’s making me root against him
No she didn't they weren't filming at the time. He was horsing around.

Realistically it was an 'accident'. Maybe you could claim he was personally negligent. But we really don't know enough of the details to know for sure. A prison sentence/manslaughter charge is a bit of a stretch. They are just making an example of him.

With that said. Baldin has been an anti-gunner for years. Who pretty much ****s on legal gun owners any chance he can get from his high horse. Meanwhile he's trying to make his millions playing on a movie using guns... Dude violated the most basic gun safety rules. Because he was so anti gun he refused to learn gun safety rules.

The two first safety rules are as follows. Children are typically taught this from a young age:
-Treat every firearm as if it were loaded.
-Always keep the muzzle of the firearm pointed in a safe direction.

He didn't check to see if the gun was located. And he pointed it at someone he shouldn't have and pulled the trigger because he was dicking off.

That's not what happened. It was a real firearm. They use blanks on movie sets but these retards were shooting with live rounds when they were on break/the camera wasn't filming. They negligently did not remove the live rounds. They did not load blanks. They were not filming a shot. Baldwin pointed the gun at someone, pulled back the hammer and pulled the trigger.

It was not while they were filming a shot. He was not aiming at another actor. He can argue he was just 'rehearsing/practicing'. Or that it was an 'accident'. But if Baldwin wasn't such an anti gunner who didn't respect firearms, it wouldn't have happened. The first thing he did when he picked up the gun was he should have checked to see if it were live rounds, blanks or empty. Since he was just 'rehearsing'. He should have been drawing, pointing, and pulling the trigger on an empty gun. And it should have still been aimed in a 'safe' direction/not at people.

He was negligent/lazy because he does not respect firearms and is inexperienced with basic gun handling rules/skills.

Hes a piece of **** for saying he didn't pull the trigger but lets be real tea, how can you charge him with anything? He was doing his job with a prop and the person hired to make that prop work, failed.

Unless there is some rule the actor is supposed to double check if its a live round, he did nothing wrong

EDIT:

Some here saying they werent actually filming a shot and were shooting live rounds too? LOL a lot of people need to go to jail, including Baldwin

Would feel bad for him if he didn't lie about pulling the trigger.

Diversity hire at work as mentioned previously... not sure how you have one job and you **** it up so badly. I have overall poor gun knowledge and I'm pretty sure I could have at least made sure he wasn't getting handed a gun with live ammunition in it.

Seems to be some confusion regarding the sequence of events:

-They were not actively shooting a scene, they were doing a rehearsal type of thing. He was sitting in a church pew and had the gun out (which was part of the scene).
-Director indicated where he was supposed to have the gun directed for the scene, which involved passing over her, and for some reason he pulled the trigger/was ****ing around with the hammer - the scene didn't involve shooting the gun so he's idiot and did this needlessly.
-Dumb ass Armorer was the daughter of a legend Hollywood Armorer on her first job (she was undoubtedly not qualified), and supplied him with a gun that she thought was all blanks but had a live round in there.
-He indicated that the gun fired itself during a painful interview (which has been found not to occur - and was already suspect as Hell and he's stupid for saying that it happened).

Checking the gun was the responsibility of the armorer. He's an actor, if he'd not had experience with firearms (why would he be expected to as it's not a requirement) how the eff would he know whether the gun was loaded with blanks or live rounds? The fact that he is an antigunner has zero bearing on the issue. The hired expert failed. Why she failed is up for debate.

Interesting. I didn’t hear that they were horsing around but rehearsing the scene. Just because it wasn’t being filmed doesn’t mean lt was horseplay.

But obviously he’s not going to say it was horsing around so it’s not like I know what I heard is 100.

The only thing I know is that the girl that was shot was not an actress, but a behind the camera person.

He was rehearsing a scene and following her directions.

He's a moron for claiming he didn't pull the trigger. Should have claimed it was an accident as even if he did pull it he'd not be responsible since he's the freaking actor.

Also loling at the "gun safety" posts. Yes, never point a gun at someone. Ok, now we don't have any movies involving guns. In reality the whole using a real gun with blanks but that can also be loaded with live rounds is retarded in itself, though that's a different issue.

A lot of idiots ITT.

An “expert” armorer was hired for production. Any firearm handling, whether filming or between takes, should have been supervised by the “weapons expert.”

Alec Baldwin is an actor hired to do what the director tells him to do. Any conspiracy nuts thinking somebody who’s lived in wealth and fame for decades while preaching anti-gun would knowingly fire a loaded gun at somebody with the intent of murder is a fukking idiot.

They hired a woman “weapons expert.”

That’s the issue in a nutshell. She failed, and should be the one facing charges.

By the way, I don’t like Alec Baldwin. But this is pretty cut and dry, you dense fkn morons.

1000% this.

Blame the person who had a high paying job to manage weapons safety on set, not the dumb actors who isn't supposed to need to know anything.

It's entirely possible he didn't lie. Most negligent discharges involve a person who swears they didn't realize they put their finger inside the trigger guard. It's a split second thing. If you're not someone who has muscle memory for trigger discipline, grabbing the gun with your finger on the trigger isn't always a conscious thing.

Also, this is a western, right? I assume that means an old single-action revolver. Trigger is going to be light and crisp with the hammer back. And I don't expect an actor to know the manual of arms well enjoys to even be aware of the hammer position.

This is all on the idiot armorer who let this stuff all happen unchecked.
