Was going to say the same thing. What the hell is OP watching that is so much more informative and enlightening than what he listed?

and I don't want to hear that Tater-Tot bullchit about reading books and meditating because I know you're not doing that day in and day out for entertainment.

Honestly tv series are for females. I am saying this as a brah that loves Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones… at the end of the day women love soap operas & guns dont make it any less of a soap opera.
Then your dad was boring. My dad was into DnD has the entire (original) Planet of the Apes saga that he watches at least once per year (He's also into Highlander MacGuyver and Quantum Leap and Sliders and the X Files too) and boxes of DC and Marvel comic books from the 70's and 80's that he still cracks open.

American Horror Story and Supernatural are the ones that are weirdest to me. They seem like they are made to appeal to women and LGBT people. I can't see the appeal for men.

American Horror Story in particular just seems like it's all about "queer stories" or what have you. The "Horror" seemed like a gay person's interpretation of the genre, like Freddy 2 type vibes. Which is fine, just not something I wanna watch.

Supernatural seems like a CBS level show, something like a Buffy the Vampire Slayer...I can see kids or women watching it, but seems an odd choice for men. Seems very low budget and lazy.

Shows like Breaking Bad at least have the cinematography of a thriller film. Sopranos was an amazing character study. Sons of Anarchy even started a bit more brutal but by the end felt chitty...but not quite soap opera territory, IMO. Just junk-food level "prestige TV" that started in the Sopranos / Oz / Wire / The Shield era.

Yeah, I haven’t seen it in a long time but I don’t recall it being gay. Thad was hilarious protecting his QB from the groupie that had poked holes in the condom and throwing a tantrum about losing his pocket pussy was great.
Thus, a good man, though a slave, is free; but a wicked man, though a king, is a slave. For he serves, not one man alone, but what is worse, as many masters as he has vices. - Saint Augustine
