I haven't been on a plane for about a decade and I'm totally fine with staying tf away from that now. I don't have to go to a specific place on the internet to hear/see stories of freakshows on airplanes; those stories will always find you

Also have done multiple stints from New Mexico to New York as well. I typically drive 9-12 hours and then stop to sleep at a hotel at night.

I did Dallas to NYC last year - that was a two day trip. It wasn't that bad because I enjoy driving after hardly ever driving anymore due to WFH, but I can't imagine doing a 4 day driving trip. That's insane.
Aren't you concerned about putting a ton of mileage on your car with trips that long?

I’d be Amtrak crew if it were possible to ride it anywhere except the Northeast. If Biden was going to do anything good I thought passenger rail would be it, yet he’s failed on that too. Sad!
I’d rather drive srs. No smelly fat people sitting next to you. No TSA. No waiting around idle for takeoff. You have full control in the car. I like to listen to my music on full blast and just cruise. Plus 8 hours isn’t so bad if you take a few breaks in between. Maybe stop at a cool restaurant in a city between your destinations.
Multi-day drives are fkin terrible though. My body is always sore after despite doing nothing lol.
But train travel is the absolute GOAT. It’s all the convenience of flying with none of the bullchit. You just hop on, sit down wherever you want or walk around the dining cars and you’re on your way. It’s criminal that we don’t have high speed rail in the U.S.

i think they are much more environmentally friendly too so i don't know why the government doesn't put money into it. too busy virtue signalling with EV subsidies that aren't actually better for environment.

I hate flying also.
-Getting to the airport 2-3 hours early to get through security
-TSA yelling at everyone as you try to get everything out and your shoes off
-Waiting at some chitty terminal for your plane, then it's delayed
-Now you're stuck next to some land whale or crying baby on the plane
-Flight attendants can't be bothered, all they do is pass out drinks and snacks
-Deal with turbulence, pray it lands without incident
-Wait for 30 more mins for your bags
-Wait for 30 more mins to get a rental car
No thanks jeff

Not a fan of flying. I tend to panic a bit. No idea why, just hate being stuck in one place for hours on end.
I got a job like 5 years ago and on the offer, my boss says "you need to fly to XX every 6 weeks for a week" which is a 5 hour flight.
Got use to it eventually...

i did a 48 hour drive from DC to San Jose alternating drivers(dad) and it was not fun at all.
I will take Flying any day.... with thousands of flights and an infinitesimal percentage chance of drama.
op those flight delays are them finding trouble and fixing them before you die, lol.

My New Mexico to New York trips were around 30 hour trips one way, and those i did just for vacation. It does suck puttting all those miles on my vehicle but then again that’s what they’re made for, right? Also for one of the trips i did from New York to New Mexico, I used the dealerships loaner since my own vehicle was in the shop LOL. So i put 4,000+ miles on a loaner while they were working on my own vehicle.
