If all else fails, you don't have to watch it, or did you not know that's an option?
They'd rather just be outraged like teen chicks upset the star QB doesn't want them.

It's quite pathetic.

Sadly, so typical of z4 and Sillie, not able to make cogent arguments, not able to be civil, just immediately getting rude and making up things to strawman over. Let's go over it.

> Listen up, Utah. The cultural makeup of the United States is different than it was back in Casablanca days. There is nothing wrong with appealing to a greater audience

This is not what this is about, though. So why bring it up? This isn't about making sure movies reflect the society we live in. We do not live in a world where every woman is a super-hero and stronger than any man, most are black, most are lesbians, a world with no white masculine men, or hardly any. A world where close to half of everyone is homosexual, where there are almost never cis relationships between a straight man and woman, and never two who are white.

That isn't our world, chief - so why you act like it is? That is beyond me. Now, do the next part of your act -- where you get flabbergasted and angrily confused how I could possibly assume you think that, when all I did was take the logical conclusion of your entire stance. You do and we know it because you said so. If not, why would you portray what Disney does as innocently as you did?

And Sillie, no I'm not outraged, that would be you who is making personal unnecessary shots -- meaning, you are the one outraged and upset about this. Some people like to make race some big deal, to virtue signal washing the feet of black people or make their avi them posing with black women they do not know. People like that like to outwardly express how "good" they are -- usually it comes out they are anything but. That for all their virtue signalling on whatever it is, the truth is invariably they harbor the opposite within.
All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

What the hell? Did you think Pirates with Depp was a documentary? It's a movie. It's fictitious. Why does it bother you that it's a female who is black?

As for the rest of your diatribe, I'm not sure what world you live in where half of everyone is a homo, no cis relationships, and no two white people are couples. You sound like an old man screeching at the clouds, son.

z4: "MMA match works, too. So when are you available this month?

Deep: "I won't subject myself to being in the presence of a scumbag."

What personal shot did I take of you? That you're outraged? That's not really a personal shot since you felt strongly enough about it to make a thread here boyo. And please don't tell me that you think that's actually me in that stupid feet washing pic? Bumblebee, yes he's a deranged moron, I get that he's easily duped, but I thought more highly of you boyo.

And is it really virtue signaling based on the arguments I laid out? There have been a million pirate movies and shows, almost all featuring white guys. Not a peep from you. Yet they want to change things up with a failing franchise who start is tarnished and of course you guys get your panties in a bunch.

Sorry friend, that's very feminine behavior getting outraged over nothing. If that offends you I'm sorry but that's life. Live your life, control what you can control, and try not to be outraged every time you cross the street. No threads from you about all the white dudes cast as other races, but when it's the white role that gets cast with someone else...OUTRAGE!

Not sure if you're dull or maybe just don't watch Disney much, so I'll spell it out like I would a child.

You said this move was to reflect the world we live in.

Maybe you are unfamiliar with Disney, but in their movies: Every woman is strong, capable and better. Most are lesbian. Most are black, Asian, rarely Hispanic or something else non-white. Most relationships are not shown or openly gay. Every male is ineffectual and feminine (that might hit a little close to home for you).

So, when I asked about you thinking the world was all the things I said - that was because I was only describing the worlds of Disney, whether it's Marvel, Star Wars, Mermaids, this and everything else they have their fingers in (which is a lot).

I made a thread critical of this and you think my criticism is wrong, which says a lot about your stance on it. If you didn't care, you'd be elsewhere, but you cared enough to post, so you're now on the same as I am.

Don't know if the premise of your question (Depp replaced based solely 1,000% on gender, sexuality and/or the color of their skin) is accurate. Maybe there were other business or artistic factors, maybe not.

I don't have a single, blanket opinion. In general, people should be considered for things based on merit. There is a huge variance in what those merits are for a particular need though. Especially with art/movies. It wouldn't make sense to cast white women for Boyz N The Hood, so being a black dude is going to be important when choosing an actor even if someone else is far better at acting.

LOL at your assertion that "Every woman is strong, capable and better. Most are lesbian. Most are black, Asian, rarely Hispanic or something else non-white. Most relationships are not shown or openly gay. Every male is ineffectual and feminine (that might hit a little close to home for you)."

You are really going off the deep end. NONE of the STAR WARS or Marvel men fit this description. The majority of women in both of those movies are white and of course they're strong, they're superheroes FFS.

And most Disney movies don't feature people but animals, robots, elements, whatever. The early movies are dominated by whites across the board, the last few years have been more non-whites.

You really really do not enjoy seeing non-whites or strong females in movies do you boyo?

So weird. The vast vast majority of other movies are led by straight, white men, but I guess unless you get 100%, it's not enough.

I'll be honest.
Black actor? Ok
Female in the role? GTFOH

Mary Sue time!! again
Captain America, She Hulk, Rey in the last three Star Wars, Wanda in the Avengers movies, Black Panther's sister, Wendy in the last Peter Pan remake, etc etc. If this Pirates fails it will because they made another Mary Sue, not because the actor is black. The semi-comedic aspect is nearly guaranteed to fall flat too. Anyway, continue to make your next 20 posts on this by ignoring these basic facts and Disney's awful track record for awhile. Tell miscers they're bad people for assuming this chick can't fill Depp's boots.

Boyo, you realize the marvel characters were actual marvel female versions of the characters in the comic books right? Rey? Black Panther's sister? Wendy?

It's kinda dumb to assume the intent is for the new actor to fill Depp's boots or that it's even the same role.

Sounds like Ayo Edebiri's character is going to be based off of Anne Bonny, who was a real life female pirate in the Caribbean...

You completely missed the point. The point is the Mary Sue they keep creating, which for bonus has to make the surrounding men stupid or weak.

Why do you people see race and gender in everything? They've made 6 of these films with the last being the worst received and want to go in a new direction. Have there been any other pirate movies with a white guy leading? No?

THEY ARE SOOOO WOKE!!!!

C'mon guys, stop being offended by every little thing that hurts your fee fees.

Not a word from you people when Depp played an american indian, nor the countless times whites played other races pre-2020.

SAD
You mean the movie where Depp played an American Indian, and NOBODY saw it???

Like Daredevil was stupid and weak in She Hulk? Or Vision in Wandavision?

Sorry boyo, not seeing what you're going for.

Knowing Disney, they'll promote this with "Inclusivity, representation, girl boss, female empowerment, etc."

It'll probably cost around 300 million, with another 150 million in marketing, maybe it'll make 500 million total, and you'll have Patty and Sillie claiming it's a success.....

Sounds like Ayo Edebiri's character is going to be based off of Anne Bonny, who was a real life female pirate in the Caribbean...
Aware of Anne Bonny.
I'd say 90% chance there's no hero's journey in the plot and she's another Disney Mary Sue. She'll drink any man under the table, toss them overboard with one hand.
That kind of stuff. Her male comrades will be doofy because they can no longer write a female lead without making the male comrades weak. 21st century bad writing.

Feel free to show the OUTRAGE. Pointing out Disney's self-sabotage ain't OUTRAGE.

But you knew that.

So you're unaware of the Mary Sue effect. Ok, then just say that.
Haven't seen She Hulk, but I'd presume Daredevil was a side character, not a central one. Haven't seen Wandavision but in the Avengers films they're a couple Vision was like a sulken teenager while Wanda was stronger emotionally and powerwise. Anyway, have fun with this topic. I'm sure you totally won't be gaslighting and making up lots of fallacies.
