Nice man, I've pretty much accepted that I'm not man enough for winter fishing. I have an annual trip I do with a buddy from high school that is usually my first trip of the year, but it's not till March or April. The key is to hit it on a sunny day where it at least gets above freezing for a couple hours. The later in the year the better, but we have to hit it before it warms up too much and spring runoff starts. Sometimes we hit it perfect, other years we freeze our butts off. Last year we froze and caught one fish, lol.

I used to fish Grand Ilse as a teen. We'd surf fish all day then night fish off the pier all night. Grab a nap in the truck when the sun would start to rise and then head back home. We had some GOAT times out there man.


Looking back at it now. I'm not sure how we had the energy for 18-20 hour fishing days.

Had a blast, maxed out on reds and black drum. Caught a chit load of catfish but I released all of them, I hate cleaning catfish.
