It also tells us the exact location where someone might be shot Patty, but I could care less, to me it's hilarious, we'll go back to the old days of guessing where shots are coming from and just waiting for someone to finally call it in.....

It's funny that as soon as a "big liberal city" is involved people's principles immediately flip to be against whatever it is, and they suddenly start arguing for government waste and more surveillance.

And usually it's the politicians advocating for these systems as a way to justify requesting and spending additional federal and state funding. The police departments are often against them because of the increase in responding to calls that lead nowhere. All while the activists never stop chanting whatever it is they chant.

That's a lot of words to say you don't want it known publicly that most of the gunshots are coming from minority neighborhoods. It'd just be plain racist to have to acknowledge the facts of liberal utopias you guys are always talking up.

Unless it's you shooting someone's dog you're not going to be anywhere near where the shots are detected. So you'll drive over there 20 minutes later and either find nothing or the same victim you'd find if someone called 911.

It does provide useful evidence every once in a while. Shotspotter is accurate to within +/- ~100 feet, and I'd guess most shootings are at less distance than that, so it's not "exact" and it's not like you have snipers that you need to find a mile away in real time or anything.
