HBK hated having Lothario there & though he acted like a dick about him backstage, you can understand why. Babyface managers unless it is Elizabeth or Cornette are totally pointless & that guy couldn't even cut a comprehensible promo & looked like some pensioner at ringside.

you misread me there.

I said his "whole second act" meaning his comeback post-injury in 2002. The boyhood dream stuff was typical cheesy garbage, nobody liked that. Shawn after 2002 was a legit successful babyface. Hard to do that in those times.

Well Shawn didn't wrestle in 98-2002, unless you mean pre-injury vs post-injury

I'd give it to his comeback/final run. Smart in the ring and still capable of turning it up for big matches. most of his all-timers were post-comeback. Kurt, Jericho, Taker at WM, Cena. Maybe that speaks to better competition as well.

He should have jockeyed to have him just be a liability, constantly getting jumped and distracting Shawn who had to protect him. Would have made Shawn maybe more sympathetic (which, he wasn't) and could have set up heels getting to beat him down in an unfair way, which you'd hope fans would react for.

That said, as disastrous as the whole Boyhood Dream crap was, fans probably would have cheered the heels for kicking the old Jose guy while Shawn ended up getting closelined from behind while trying to check on him.
All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

Ofcourse you meant before leaving WWE in 1998 or coming back to WWE in 2002.

His comeback in 2002. That's when most of his best stuff was out....lots of very good matches, lots of amazing feuds, brilliant storylines...main evented all the time from 2002-2010...
