how do you go without playing for 2 years, do one lesson, and then plan for tournaments? like maybe focus on getting in shape and better before thinking about competitions...?

I know that's too high given my age (220-52 = 168). Then they say you shouldn't go above 80-90% of that, which is 151.2 for 90%.

In b4 heart attack with my high cholesterol.

Plus I did 2 sessions on the ball machine--one for 45 min and one for 1 hour yesterday. The private lesson was for an hour Friday night.

I still have to lift to keep my muscle mass but I can't lift as often with tennis as it will screw me up if I have a match the next day.

I think the cardio will be helpful because walking and lifting weren't really pushing my heart rate up that high at all--maybe 110-120.

Yeah I'm kind of jumping ahead of myself.

I have no clue how I used to play matches for 3-4 hours. I just realized that not having tennis in my life made me very depressed

Thanks. David Easlea is back?

I can't wait to finally feel comfortable in tennis clothes again. Those short skirts and tight tops are hell if you gain weight.

I have to wear 2 sports bras now. It's really annoying. I went from a B cup to a D cup after pregnancy, and I was DD a few months ago before I lost weight.

I was much faster on the court as a B cup, plus not carrying so much weight around weighs you down. Hence another reason to keep pumping the protein so I don't get so hungry.

Any time I slack on protein I overeat.

Hit em straight and hard. At least it would drive me crazy when I would hit against guys with lots of backspin.

You should try taking a 2 year break from the misc and see if it's the same.

That's how I grew up playing, and I sometimes slice my backhand and forehand. Yes, it sucks to play people who hit a lot of backspin/slice because then you're scooping the ball off the court and it's hard to hit a winner.

About 10 years ago the women at my level starting hitting a lot of topspin so I took some lessons to learn how to hit topspin and a kick serve. Topspin takes twice as much effort to hit IMO over flat and then my instructor hits moar topspin back and I'm dying from exhaustion and arm soreness.

So I really have to get in good shape as I can't play at a lower level since I played D1 college tennis, even though that was 30 years ago so it's a dumb rule. So I'm going to have to play this level when I'm 70???? It's nuts.

I can understand if it was 10 years, but for life?
