I'd say they're not really comparable.

Skyrim is a fantasy sandbox where you just kinda sorta walk around and "explore" copy pasted caves without really achieving or accomplishing anything. There's also some resemblance of a story to give you an excuse for walking around but you can basically ignore that.

TW3 is a heavily narrative driven game with excellent characters and writing, great quest design (probably the best side quest design in any game ever) in a world that actually feels alive.

So if she cares about storylines and arcs: TW3
If she prefers to just zone out and explore the world: Skyrim.

I also prefer cyberpunk just due to the setting but I know that's controversial.

I like witcher 3 though it's a great game but nowhere near the GOAT imo more like a solid top 25
Yeah some combos would be nice. But I think everything else makes up for the combat. The detective stuff is really cool too. It’s kind of fun dodging around and going in for a hit, and timing signs right and and choosing when to do a whirl, but some combos and stuff in the game would be nice.

I actually just bought dark souls remastered and am playing that too. I think after I beat these I’ll create a brand new character and do a new run on Elden ring instead of new game +

In Skyrim there are definitely people who respond to you, but in Witcher 3 you play Geralt and so there's a far more interactive component with the story as you have more shared history with other characters. So W3 feels like a more involved, intimate story with far more depth and emotional payoffs. I can definitely see her enjoying it more because of that.

Combat is in 3rd person and simpler. It does show its age but it's serviceable. There are options to unlock skills but they are mostly passive stats/enhancements so you don't necessarily have to learn new move lists and combos. I'd still say the combat is more fun and involved than Skyrim and the best part is you don't have to constantly deal with the UI to change abilities or inventory management which is great.

Open world can go either way, depending on your style but Witcher 3 is definitely a better looking game and also littered with towns and cities. The NPCs feel more like real people. Graphics in the updated next gen version look VERY crisp on PS5, and a smooth 60fps. No complaints there.

Edit: make sure you get the complete edition. The DLCs are amazing.
I beat Skyrim years ago and I just realized I don’t even remember much about the game. The only thing memorable was going and getting these shout type abilities and then an epic boss fight at the end and come pretty epic music.

Everything in the Witcher 3 seems like it will be pretty memorable years from now

I feel dirty saying this, but I beat the main story twice, hearts of stone once, and still haven't finished blood and wine.

Skyrim world looks better than The Witcher 3 world though. Plus it has the old realistic looking graphics and not the new fake looking stuff. Skyrim looks a lot more authentic and immersive like you are actually there experiencing it.

I played Skyrim years back and i barely remember it. I'll give the benefit of the doubt that maybe i rushed the game and it wasn't for me, but The Witcher 3 is absolutely wild. It ticks every single box in what a game should be.

Weird, i can't find anything to do in The Witcher either. I don't like all the cutscenes and talk about cards and the world to me is too similar to an AC game. In Skyrim i feel fully immersed in a different world and can explore for eternity while leveling up.

Awesome. It's wild that this game came out a decade ago. It is the best open world game i've played beating even my experience with tears of the kingdom. I'd go to the notice boards, it will give you quests and unlock question marks in the area. I liked going to all the question marks, and prioritizing secondary/witcher contracts that align with your level. Then prioritizing the main quests last after finishing those. Also some side quests will get blocked if you progress through the main quests. It can seem overwhelming with the amount of content, but if you're just choosing to do the quests as your level recommendation and traveling to the marks it is pretty straight forward.

thnx bro. repped. Also the herablist in the beginning is kind of hot. Cant stress how beautiful the game is though. They out did themselves with the next gen update but it could be the OG aged well too.

there's a massive Gwent tournament in B&W so you'll better get the hang of it asap

it's not a main quest but still

Northern Realms and Nilfgaard are the best decks.

Check out these guides on where to get specific cards:

Beginner guide on building and using a NR deck:

A list of Gwent quests:

So yeah, there's quite a bit of content related to Gwent. Didn't feel it in the beginning but after it clicked and I built up a fairly strong starter deck I started really enjoying it. Didn't keep track but I'm positive I've sunk at least 15-20 hours into it on my first playthrough.

Northern Realms is OP, but the B&W set is a nice change of pace. I ignored Gwent for a large portion of my first playthrough, but once I went back and got the hang of it, it was like crack.

Don't make the same mistake I did. Play Gwent now and enrich your experience.

I think the people who complain about the combat hasn't played it in the Next-Gen version. Either that or they just simply suck. How they suck - I can't imagine.

Casting signs now is so easy. Fighting with melee while mixing signs here and there is so fun and easily the best combat in all of fantasy games out there.

I still think Cyberpunk 2077 is the better CDPR game, but The Witcher 3 is up there in the S Tier class for sure.

quick sign casting is off by default so I have the suspicion that some of these gonks complaining about the combat aren't using it, and even me, before the next-gen version, found that the old system for switching signs was bad. but with quick sign casting in the next-gen version, TW3 combat is up there with modern AAA fantasy titles.

in this game you can deflect arrows with your sword back to the shooter, perform dances/swirls while cutting down your enemies as well as other unique moves. literally, if you think the combat in this game sucks, you're the one who sucks, not even up for debate.

Lol I play with original sign casting and still love the game. I like that it slows everything down. But I think I’ll go into the settings and try the new one. I suppose I really don’t need to slow things down anyway.

Go try playing a game like tears of the kingdom and then this and you will feel how clunky this really is. The combat is great and fun, its just the way things move and feel still gets annoying AF.
