OP didn't have an answer to my previous question, do you have a family? I'm going to guess the answer is no. And that's the problem. You don't have anything meaningful to focus on, like kids. No one will ever have a job they like, if they did, it wouldn't be a job. Even if you monetize your favorite hobby, in a year or two you'll be tired of it. Find something high paying and easy to do, that also has flexibility to allow you to focus on actual important things that you care for.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

My buddy is in the same situation. His team has been cut in half, half lay offs, half walk outs. Its basically him and another guy who is older and has more credentials. Well the older guy (mid 30's) with a wife and kids has been putting the team on his back for the last year. Raises came in last month, my buddy got his standard 3% and the hard worker got a, wait for it, 3.15%, that's right. .15% for going above and beyond. Raised hell with MGMT and got a response of "we get a set budget for raises and that's that, there is no personal allocation based on merit" lmao. SO they fire several people, free up hundreds of thousands in salary costs, the same amount of work gets done, and no one gets rewarded except the CEO ten states away and this guys direct Manager gives him some hands tied bureaucratic BS. So the guy gets a job offer paying slightly more, but for 40hr weeks. He brings it to his manager saying match it or im gone. They said we can match that with overtime pay, as in you can have the opportunity to work even more hours to achieve that number instead of leaving us and getting that number for literally half the hours worked. That guy is quitting and my buddy is about to be told to work 80 hour weeks.

The relationship between employer and employee has changed, time for the employees to change too. Whatever that means to you OP.

It happens, boyo. Sorry you're going through that. I know a few people who were in that situation. Impressively, they did a full 180 and made an abrupt career change. I know someone who worked admin and wound up becoming a real estate agent pushing 40 years old. Took some risks, things were tight for a while, but they did it and now super happy and actually pretty wealthy.

It's probably terrifying to leave a job behind but you do have one life to live so always ask yourself what the 'death bed' version of yourself would advise current version of you to do.

Fckn sucks to work in Murica

about to turn 60, i could retire at anytime and take my pension, i currently cannot even think of what to spend my money on so basically i am just stacking cash month after month......

But my job is so easy, i like most of the people i work with, its meaningful work and i can do it in 5-10 hours per week , so i can do all my hobbies, training etc while i am working and am practically semi retired.........

If anything changes for the worse i'm off but until then i will ride it out for awhile

Its a felony not to work and you work at the job they give you like it or not.

Personal finance is pretty simple. You get a job and earn money. You spend less money then you earn. You don't finance anything. And you invest early and often.


You follow these basic principles from 18-38 and the average American should be able to take their foot off the gas/partially retire by that point. Being fully retired before you are 50 is relatively simple. I'm on track to do so by 46. However I don't know how the world/economy would really function if everyone took that path. We need consumers to drive the economy. We need wage-slaves to produce for us.


IMO it really only takes a good 20-25 year run to retire. Most cucks don't realize this until they are 30s-40s though and by that point they've burned up their energy and the golden years and don't have anything to show for it.



Not everyone can be minimalists who invests/squirrels away the lions portion of their income so they can chill middle aged and check out of the rat race.

very true. anyone in the rat race should be preparing their kids to get on a path to get out of it by the time they are 15-16 yrs old...teach them the value of a dollar instead making them mindless consumers that buy buy buy. this is more important than anything they will learn at school/college. but like you said most people don't learn until they're 35+ and already in debt/have kids which means working hard until they are 70-75 just to have a chance to retire somewhat comfortably.

The first part of my retirement is based on a pension program through my work. 6% of my income goes into the pension fund, employer matches that. The longer I work/put into the retirement system, the higher the percent I can collect. At 46 I'll be able to collect 85K per year. But that's a fixed amount. While the pension system is cool. I'm not entirely certain its the most efficient route for early retirement. If you look at the FIRE community. Its not uncommon for people to achieve early retirement on their own. I've a few friends that are doing it on their own and I think they are better off then me working a job that has the pension program.




If I had to give a formula to a 18 year old. I'd say its simple. Spend less then you earn. Invest first. Don't finance anything. Increase the amount you invest. Start with stocks/crypto and eventually add real estate. There is 0 reason why you can't work as a teen and save about 10K to open a brokerage and invest as soon as you hit 18. Its what I did.

Saying you donโ€™t like work is kinda like saying you donโ€™t like people.

Both are vital components of an enjoyable and meaningful life, but negative experiences at some time or another has caused the individual to turn on them.

Itโ€™s important to not chalk it up to an intrinsic dislike and keep in mind that you may just have not found the right work, or people, yet.
