The 90's was damn depressing. The early 2000's was better than the 90's.
Movies were still pretty good in the 90's though, I'll give it that. Some 80s remnants like arcades were still doing their thing. Otherwise, the 90s is when all that gay crap started to be accepted. When being politically correct started sneaking its way into main stream. When every kid deserved a trophy. Music became depressing grunge, and cRap became accepted when in the 80's it was seen as a fad like disco. The girls in the 90's dressed like lumberjacks.

Things picked up in the very late 90s with an attempt to get back to the 80's party groove. The early 2000's were pretty cool too. Even after 9/11. Everyone was unified after 9/11. Then George W Bush went on his world police power grab and pretty much ruined the world since. Now everything is damned politics and side picking.
You must have been at a low point in your life during the 90s to feel it was depressing. It was a mix of everything, and that's what made it great. Music and fashion were more diverse than ever, everyone was jumping between identities. It was kind of like a free for all of choice. Almost every major genre of music was played in places, you never knew what you were going to hear. The wild west period of the internet was also its greatest time. Annoying PC society didn't start until the last part of the 90s, and accelerated in the 2000s, then got ramped up to extreme levels in recent times

Not really. Year started off with the space shuttle blowing up on live tv being watched by millions of school kids.

Later that year it got even worse with Bill Buckner's error.

i get the irony. but internet not existing is what made people value in-person conversations/relationships even more. plus sloots would have a much more difficult time talking up/getting hit on by 100 dudes at a time. the conversations you did have were usually locked in...no pacifier phone getting in the way. if you were bored, everybody was bored together and that further facilitated better communication/joking around.

The 80's was ****ing awesome, no f4gs in your face daily, transformers were not a thing other than in some freak weird dungeon or something like Sanf*gsicko. Beer commercials had girls with nice tits and were funny.

These threads are so dumb. Everybody misses their own childhood/youth. And there's not much of a difference between the 80s and 90s. Corporations took over entertainment. You guys comparing mass-produced products, movies, and music like braindead consoomers is meaningless.

"Best" era was probably pre-Industrial Revolution era. Maybe late 1700s. When everybody was a farmer and went to church everyday. Or even early 1900s before propaganda techniques really took hold.

Crime rates peaked in the late 80s / early 90s and decreased dramatically throughout the 90s and through to 2020. There was a pandemic driven spike in 2020-22, but that spike was nowhere even close to the early 90s peak and it's been normalizing more to a 2016-19 level last year and this year. The only crime that didn't drop drastically from the early 90s is rape and that's most likely due to better reporting. There is a lot of propaganda about how the cities are the most unsafe now that they have ever been, but it's all a bunch of BS. The cities are a chitload safer now crime much lower than in the 80s or 90s.

To be realistic, it was probably the norm for women until the 2000s. Depends on where as well. Sure you have always had mega sloots. I think double digits becoming the norm for the average girl is probably within the last 25 years.
In the 80's girls were still very much slut shamed. People got married earlier then too.
Just because their was more shaming back then, doesn't mean that the average girl had a low body count. It was just easier to hide. A girl moves to a new town, she could "start at 0" because there was no online presence.

There was a time in the 80s where 18 year old girls could go to bars and clubs and drink. Bar culture was huge and women would throw themselves at the local cover band.
