also if there was someone on her tail it was better to get into an accident than tap the brake?

When I was a teen, I used to get angry at stuff like this

Then later, I stopped letting it make me angry

Now that I'm older, it makes me angry again. Because driving should not be a fraction of how dangerous it actually is, it's only so dangerous because a small segment of the population is driving around like they have no indifference as to whether or not they kill people.

If someone recklessly drives their car in a way that puts other people's lives at risk, I hope only bad things happen to them

not all TX drivers are bad though but man, not a single day that i drive on highway without seeing major accidents on road.
Yeah I always here crazy stuff about Texas drivers too.

Out here a lot of guy swith the big SUV or Big Trucks drive wreckless they change lanes with little distance and tailgate a lot. its weird.

Bro that fuking SUV had NO SIGNAL turn either how is she supposed to know? she was driving properly, the SUV tried to suddenly change lanes with 2 feet left, if anything the SUV driver had the ego and tried to force themselves into the lane that is bad driving with no left turn signal to warn either and refused to go behind her and probably wanted to go in front this happens a lot when Im driving I have a good amount of distance behind me like 100 feet yet some A hole wants to speed up and go infront of me instead of just going behind me just to go to the fast lane.

You are wrong, she has a DASH cam and will win in the court bud, no LEFT turn signal from the SUV and the SUV on camera is seen trying to squeeze into the lane with no warning, she will not be wrong in a court of law.

It seemed like she didn't even attempt to slow or avoid the car, which is the issue here. And, in this particular case, if she had slowed down or tried to jerk her car out of the way, it could've prevented a crash.

There's no denying that the other driver messed up, but that doesn't absolve you as a driver from not trying to drive safely and avoid a greater harm to yourself and others(if you could, which it looked like she could, and if she couldn't, it questions her abilitee to hold a license(essentially eroding her credibiltee(and being full innocents))

She won't fully win in court if the defendant hires a decent defense lawyer. They'll both have to pay for the damages.

There's an ongoing pattern I see with NPC's. Especially for self defense, shooting, etc - its rare one side is fully innocent. Full innocence you see in murder victims of cerial killers.

this, they're both at fault.

driver merging shouldn't have been an absolute idiot committing a dangerous maneuver. The lady created an incident where there didn't need to be one...every driver has a duty to avoid an accident if they safely can. On top of that she also created an extremely dangerous situation not only for the two of them but also everyone else immediately behind them.

Anyone arguing her slowing down to avoid the accident would have been dangerous is an idiot, if she got rear ended it wouldn't be her fault, and it wouldn't send a car careening across the freeway.

zero survival instincts on either of those drivers. Defensive driving also entails being able to predict what other drivers are doing, anyone with half a brain knows someone speeding and tailgating a car adjacent to them is probably going to be driving unsafely and to give them space.

i mean that assumes they were trying to run them off the road, and didn't just use poor judgment while driving recklessly making an unsafe lane change

if it WAS self defense, sure she's not at fault. but good luck proving intent that they were trying to run her off the road and not just stupid idiots in a rush to their destination with poor spatial awareness who caused an accident

TBH I wouldn't be surprised if both these drivers were yo-yo'ing back and forth in the fast lane with one trying to pass/stay in front of the other, bigger SUV got fed up and tried to cut her off, and she wasn't having it. Nothing about her facial expression implies she wasn't expecting this

Such an easy accident to avoid. Doesnt matter if their insurance pays for all repairs, its still a pain in the ass and a car is NEVER the same after the butchers at the body shop are done with it, even if you go to a dealer backed one.

This wasn't an "accident", the other one was driving recklessly and drove her car into the other. Anything else is just speculation

Driving on the freeway is just driving in a straight line. It's the easiest driving possible. There's no excuse for an "accident" unless someone a vehicle malfunction or someone is having a medical emergency like they passed out at the wheel. Somebody messed up, and its clear who it is in the video

Your reasoning for "theyre both at fault" sounds a lot like a kid punching their bully and then disciplining them both

It takes two to cause that kind of accident. The suv tried to change lanes with no room, and the lady could have slowed down but didn't. I don't think she intentionally pit maneuvered him though, she was probably just oblivious like all women

These are the facts from the video

- Other driver is reckless and committed a traffic violation by colliding into the woman in the video in her lane
- Other driver could have prevented the wreck by braking, but didn't

Philosophical logic:
- If both drivers were like the woman in the video, there would have been no wreck
- If both drivers were like the other person in the video, there would have been a wreck

If you distill all that down to "theyre both equally bad", I don't know what to tell you

Lmao idk what to even say to all this but lets have at it

1st, feel free to point out where I or anyone else said they areequallyat fault. I'll fukin wait. And die waiting because no one ever said that lol.

2nd, driving on the freeway involves a lot more than just driving in a straight line...for example...changing lanes, driving defensively, braking, you know, everything that is involved on regular roads.

3rd, driving on the freeway is inherently more dangerous and risky than driving on normal surface roads, just because of the speed, there's a reason permitted non-licensed drivers aren't allowed to drive on the freeway to start. kinda like how permitted non-licensed drivers aren't allowed to drive late at night, because of reduced visibility and lack of experience

4th, laws are clear that every driver has a duty to avoid an accident if they can do so safely. Unless you have some sort of knowledge that A) the merging driver wasn't having a malfunction or medical emergency or B) that the driver who got hit didn't have any space behind her to brake safely, in which case I'd love to know your source

5th, you literally admit the other driver could have prevented the wreck by braking, but didn't. refer back to point #4.

Both driversWERElike the woman in the video. both refusing to yield, leading to an accident

If you distill all that down to "the woman in the video isn't at fault at all" idk what to tell you except to consult a traffic/accident lawyer, your insurance agent, and your local DMV handbook. For what its worth you're the only person in this entire thread who mentioned anything about equal fault.

by your logic, I have free right to t bone someone who tried to make a left in heavy traffic, got stuck in the intersection and is now blocking my straight path, and I would not be at fault. Would you say that's fair?

1 - You are definitely implying they are both equally bad in post #41. Just because you didn't use the word "equal". You also did it in this very post: "Both drivers WERE like the woman in the video. both refusing to yield, leading to an accident".I also never said the lady in the OP couldn't have prevented the wreck. Are you agreeing that the other person is way worse than the lady? If so, we're actually on the same page

2 - There was no need for anyone to change lanes. If all you do is follow your lane, there would no wrecks. Fact

3. No it isn't. Freeway speeds are higher, but you are always driving in the same direction as the person you hit, so the speed differential is less. 80mph rear end someone at 60mph is way less dangerous than two cars hitting head on in an intersection at 45mph each

4 & 5. I never said the lady didn't fulfill her duty to avoid the wreck. She still isn't nearly as bad as the person who hit her, which is my whole point

Also, "Both drivers WERE like the woman in the video. both refusing to yield, leading to an accident" -> No, the other person did not just "refuse to yield", they completely attempted to run the other driver off the road.

I still refer back to philosophy here. Everyone can drive like the lady, and everyone would be safe. If everyone drove like the other person, everyone would be dead. Therefore the other person is in the wrong.

That woman is a unicorn

No screaming, no freaking out. Just a casual fix. Worth wifing down for that alone.

Your job is to avoid an accidentif you can, which she didn't even try. Its literally in the drivers handbook. Sounds like to me you need your license revoked. Sounds to me like you just let accidents happen if it so happens to inconvenience ur driving.

Lemme just not swerve or try move out the way because sum dum gai was switching lanes too close lmao.
