I can say with some conviction that Oldboy is friggin phenomenal and films like that are the reason why you need to look beyond Hollywood (who did a remake which pales in comparison).

I got into Asian horror after a few good films. They know how to hit different. Hollywood's horror is about trying to make you jump-scared and usually failing. Asian horror focuses instead on draining you emotionally and Oldboy does this.

Won't spoil too much, but it has you thinking it's going to be a standard revenge flick but hits you with a major twist and becomes something else entirely. It moved Tarantino to tears, or so I heard.
Back off, Warchild.

Seriously.

Was con-air mentioned? I think it was in other movie threads

I watched it yesterday in full, never actually seen the whole movie, just bits and pieces on TV

Had no idea, but it's technically a father-daughter movie

I haven't watched this 1995 coming-of-age comedy so I don't know the details.

Are there any father and daughter bonding elements?

Watched "The Lion King" the 2019 CGI movie.

I expected more of a Father-and-son bond nevertheless enjoyed the good interactions between the various animal characters.

Just watched "The Last Song" (2010) last night.

A father (a former Juilliard professor and concert pianist) and a mother divorced. Their daughter (a talented pianist accepted for Juilliard but quit playing) and son (adoring his father) live with their mother and visit their father to stay for a while.

I love movies with music as the key element. Near the end, music becomes their bond again.

The daughter meets an honest young boy and falls in love with him, but their relationship becomes complicated because of a past incident the boy told nobody, that hurt her father and his reputation among the townspeople years ago.

I was smiling again and again, almost the whole time, but cried at the end, remembering my own father.

second this

I didn't know the actress who played the daughter was Eliza Dushku until now, lol.

I am a big fan of her, TV shows, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", "Angel", "Tru Calling" and "Dollhouse" and have the DVDs of all of them, never thought of her as a movie actress.

I have to re-watch "True Lies".

Well, this scene alone worth watching.
