I get the desire to not allow progressives to keep taking. Giving ground just results in the next thing being put on the cutting block.

However, the public appeal to remain "reasonable" is important for preventing moderates from jumping on "full gun ban mode". The NRA helping pro-gun candidates campaign is being used as a "bought and paid for" talking point. Seems to be moderately successful IMO.

In a public debate there really and truly isn't a good way to defend the bump stocks. All you have is slippery slope (which is real) and the fact that you can do it with a belt loop as well.

Like it or not we already lost the automatic weapons battle long ago. From a public debate perspective giving up indefensible points might be the right tactical move.

Social Isolation seems to be the key driving factor as people with expansive social networks are never the ones doing this. It is always the forever alone types.

I suspect the key driving factors...

- In ability to address conflict at lower force levels. - The consequences of a school yard fight have increased to such a point that going toe to toe with a bully is damn near the punishment of taking a baseball bat to their knee. This prevents "resolution" taking place which causes the events to continue and escalate.

- The internet and social networking have removed the ability to "escape" from social pressures.

- Suicide prevention measures may be backfiring.

- Females being able to get attention out of their league leads to more males being labeled "creepers"

- It leads to some form of "fame" which for someone who is never noticed or already labeled insignificant loser might be a pro.

There has been a strong correlation between multiple shooters and psychotropic drug use.

Did you use cold water or ice to make cold water? Was it the new lemon ice tea flavor?

It's greens...haven't found a greens product that actually tastes good yet lol

And try not to look at it...looks have astronginfluence on the perception of taste and that's probably what it looks like lol

So... yesterday at the station, this guy that works there brought his carry gun.. a smith and Wesson 1911 .45 caliber.

Has like a big ass piece of cloth stuck in the barrel, no round chambered, and is using FMJ, in a cheap ass sh*tty holster. The ones that like come with the gun. Idek wtf they’re called but it looked horrible. About an inch and half of the damn gun was sticking out below his shirt too and holy fuk was he wearing a long ass shirt.

I bert stared, when I first took it out the holster and then looked at him and said wtf is this? Referencing to the cloth. Then he says so no dust gets inside. Then I say you don’t keep a round chambered? He goes hell no. And then I ask why he doesn’t carry hollowpoints and he says because they explode inside and he’s like with these they’ll just go through.

I sh*t you not, this happened. He doesn’t know I carry. Don’t have any interest in telling him I carry daily but he does know I took the concealed carry class in the past.

Edit for pics:

President Donald Trump said he will ban bump stocks himself if Congress doesn't take action in a meeting with governors at the White House today.

"By the way, bump stocks, we're writing that out. I'm writing that out myself. I don't care if Congress does it or not, I'm writing it out myself. You put it into the machine gun category, which is what it is. It becomes essentially a machine gun and nobody's going to be able, it's going to be very hard to get them, so we're writing out bump stocks," he said.

The silver lining would be aslightlyreduced chance of collateral damage to things other than bump stocks

But the giant ominous anvil shaped cloud would be one more layer peeled away + the precedent of POTUS just bypassing Congress to ban via executive order... you know...that thing all the Chicken Littles kept saying Obama would do

I get that he's trying to placate the loony leftists, but it doesn't matter to them if he does this or not. The guy could ban guns entirely and he still wouldn't gain any of their votes, or respect. He is essentially trying to make them happy by giving them a little, but in the mean time pissing off the people who actually would support him. The art of the deal baby!

If he's thinking politically like that, he's probably trying to not-alienate whatever is left of the center/swing voters

LOL. Pretty much the same fall back argument every non-gun person who refused to learn how guns work has used against bump stocks. Because "magic".

Doing it by EO is a horrible move... That being said.

Defending bump stocks in a debate isn't really doable. Trump is a populist. Always has been. This won't placate the leftists, but it might show centrists the desire to be "reasonable".

Pro-gun people will still support him because despite him giving up this point he will still be MUCH more pro-gun than what ever libtard the dems roll out.

Pro gun people will support him (grudgingly) while he's in his first term if he doesn't go full potato . . . but he's well on the way.

2nd term election comes around? All bets are off. If I was a Republican or Libertarian challenger with a chance, I'd ride him endlessly on breaking his promise to gun owners anre spearheading more anti-gun discussion and legislation than Obama. That would leave a serious mark. He'll have a serious primary run coming at him from his own side.

What gun control did Obama implement, in all 8 of his years?

True for false, if Trump does this, he will already be more anti-gun than Obama where it matters

False... BY FAR FALSE.

Obama's SCOTUS nominee was anti-gun... Your right to own guns was preserved by one vote and if the swing vote went to Merrick it was all over. Having conservative SCOTUS judges is where all the marbles lie. RBG made it clear that they intended on reviewing DC vs Heller when possible. Applying the 2nd Amendment to only the military and national guard would be FAR more damaging and it isn't even close.

That is ignoring the attempted green tip ban which would have been much more influential to gun owners that a mod that most gun owners think is retarded anyway.

Play the long game.

True for false, if Trump does this, he will already be more anti-gun than Obama where it matters
Correct, and here's the scary thing. Trump has such a hard-on for Obama, that Trump would literally chalk this up as a victory over Obama.

Trump: "You wanna know what I did that Obama couldn't, through eight long years. Come up with someone on gun-control. That's yuge! It's big, it's beautiful."
I'm not blessed with riches, but I am rich with blessings.
Thank you, LORD, my God.

That is ignoring the attempted green tip ban which would have been much more influential to gun owners that a mod that most gun owners think is retarded anyway.

Play the long game.
"attempted" ban. Is this bump stock ban going to be "attempted"?

Obama and Trump don't rule on SCOTUS cases. Sure, it's theoretically better to have Trump nominate judges than Obama, but on gun control legislation, regulations, orders...what did Obama do, again? What is Trump trying to do?
