I know you were replying to someone else, but I've been going to the store each week. Each time I stock up with the intention of not having to go back, but with 4 mouths to feed and not much storage space, we keep running out of something or other. Just when I think I've got enough chicken, mince and rice, suddenly we're low on breakfast cereal and bread, or something else. There's absolutely no delivery or collection slots either, so I have to go into the danger zone.

Go on ********. There's a group called "Your City Runners" and you can pay people like $10 to go to the store for you.

Austin runners even has people paying people to go to gas stations for them or liquor stores.

On another note. Our OBGYN said in Austin all covid patients are routed to Ascension hospital. So St. David's hospital has no covid patients. This is a pretty big relief, I was concerned we were giving birth at the same hospital a bunch of covid was at.

I also don't like Ascension, if I catch covid I'll likely move to Houston medical center for two weeks and if I get bad I'll checkin at Methodist.

Fack, I Currently live in a small city with only one hospital that my partner will be giving birth at. I wonder if it’s wise to consider a different city to birth in.

Very good news. From article:

“It’s always hard,” she said, because the severe trial doesn’t include a placebo group for comparison. “But certainly when we start [the] drug, we see fever curves falling,” she said. “Fever is now not a requirement for people to go on trial, we do see when patients do come in with high fevers, they do [reduce] quite quickly. We have seen people come off ventilators a day after starting therapy. So, in that realm, overall our patients have done very well.”

She added: “Most of our patients are severe and most of them are leaving at six days, so that tells us duration of therapy doesn’t have to be 10 days. We have very few that went out to 10 days, maybe three,” she said.
Virtue is its own reward.

Sounds like there is still a pretty long way to go to finish up the trials from around the world. However, there's certainly hope there.

No, I don't remember that.

I do remember you claiming we were trending down and only going to get better from a high of 46 daily deaths last month. You were quite adament to the point of cursing and throwing a good old fashion name calling grade school meltdown about it, as I recall. How did that turn out?

Seems there's also some promise in the plasma treatments . . .

https://www.foxnews.com/health/flori...-plasma-report

A Florida man battling COVID-19 came out of a medically induced coma on Easter Sunday -- days after receiving plasma donated by someone who had recovered from the virus, according to a local report.

A few days after that, Michael Kevin Rathel was taken off the ventilator and breathing on his own, Fox 35 reported.

"We are in a very different place than we were 24 hours ago," his wife, Stacie, told the outlet Wednesday, after speaking to her husband over FaceTime. "He was even cracking jokes with the nurses. So I thought, OK yeah, he’s back."

Doctors at Orlando Health initially put him on a ventilator and into the medically induced coma on April 4, according to the report. He received plasma therapy four days later.

retards don't understand that particular mask has like a rubber valve/vent that prevents particles/viruses from coming IN but not going OUT. So really, that n95 you posted is only beneficial for you, not others around you.

you can test this by blowing directly into the vent and you'll see it flaps open to let air out. also why it's easier to breath in those.

real n95s, you cant fukin breath in those chits and it's not realistic to be wearing that all day long. usually you wear one when going into patient rooms that require it

Most of the country won't be shut down (to the extent it mostly is now) for 6 months. That's just not going to fly, or work for the economy

And, uh, 6 months, starting mid March, would put you right at the precipice of the next cold/rona season so that's a pretty weird amount of time to pick...pretty much has to be shorter or longer than that. Or shorter, then pull the reigns back again in the fall

i cant believe people actually want the country to stay in lockdown for a year.

and i am also not understanding how people think there is no immunity to it? It's insane to think the antibodies developed during infection period won't protect you from future infection of the same strain. I know you can get influenza twice in the same season, as there iare more strains out there. But i'm not sure if already going through a primary infection of covid means these "reported" second infection are greatly lessened in terms of severity as your immune system is already primed and ready

inb4 covid mutates into an absolute death sentence

I'm reading the proposed guidelines Trump gave the governors.

https://int.nyt.com/data/documenthel...ull.pdf#page=1

Nobody is to open without robust testing in place for healthcare workers, including antibody testing. Requires two weeks of both declining reports of new cases and also either declining total cases or declining percentage of positive test results.

Phase 1, in part: Receptions, trade shows, and similar gatherings are still a no-go. Schools are to remain closed. Venues such as gyms, theaters, and sit-down dining can't re-open without physical distancing in place. Bars are to remain closed. Vulnerable individuals such as the elderly, diabetics, people with high blood pressure, and the obese are to remain locked down and people who live with them are warned to reconsider returning to work.

Phase 2 can only start once there's clear evidence that Phase 1 isn't causing a rebound in cases. Schools may resume operations and bars are allowed to open only with diminished capacity. Non-essential travel may resume.

Phase 3 can only start once there's clear evidence that Phase 2 isn't causing a rebound in cases. Unrestricted staffing of businesses may resume and situation will be reasonably close to normal at that point. Employers are to continue disinfecting and monitoring employees for symptoms.

Face coverings are listed as encouraged for "all phases". Businesses will continue disinfecting and monitoring employees for symptoms indefinitely, and are to bar symptomatic employees from the worksite. Guidelines propose either statewide or county-by-county implementation.
Nah, fukk that. I’m not doing that.

Damn phase 1 sounds exactly like what I've typed out a couple times.

I dig it!

Except that sounds like a bit of a high barrier to activate phase I....

Makes a remarkable amount of sense, but likely to piss a LOT of people off. Also good bye economy with businesses like restaurants and theaters going at half capacity. I get the reasoning, but I can't see how a lot of these places are going to survive.

Would be a good time to entertain playing around with work shifts and keeping places open 24 hours or at least open during off peak hours. Maybe rethink having 90% (exaggeration) of people working some variation of 9-5/8-4/7-3 shifts Monday-Friday places a lot of burden on certain business during the weekend and after work (bars, restaurants, anything entertainment related). Having staggered shifts and days off might be something to look into. Gotta get creative in these crazy times.

I'd imagine staggered staffing - and classrooms - is going to be a thing for a long time. I'd also imagine that getting to Phase 2, that is, implementing Phase 1 without a rebound, is going to put a lot of communities on the struggle bus for some time to come.

Restaurants, I expect, will make it up with increased pricing and staff reductions. Going out might start to become a luxury again. I could also imagine adopting a seating charge to encourage more people to do takeout. It sounds weird but that's actually normal in a lot of countries, not specifically to encourage takeout but still.

Both my restaurants were already doing this minus the checking temp part. Running at 50% capacity while on a wait the entire time while not the very best, it gives them a chance to start making some money again. I wonder who is going to be over the testing mandates in every municipality?

Fauci looks super pissed off and disoriented. Wonder whats up with that?
