match 6.5C and "match" 308 ammo (i put it in parenthesis because the round is as useless as musket in 2016) cost is very comprable

if you try to tell me something about some garbage east euro 308 ammo being cheaper...whats the point of owning some large frame AR or bolt rifle only to shoot 2-4 MOA ammo out of it?

and also lol if you are shooting precision oriented rifles and not reloading
Try chambering and firing a 6.5c round in a firearm chambered for .308, see what happens.

And ain't nothin wrong with pmc 308. Itl go bang err time, unlike handloads.

just checking in to say, in 1k plus reloads, I have never had a FTF. (223 and 308)
308 I think has an advantage in energy. Also some hunters prefer the larger round. Maybe more bullet selection?(not sure of that)
6.5 is better for precision that is for sure.

Furthermore, you can't simply "shoot 308 out of a gun that can shoot 6.5C" the two calibers are not interchangable, if it's an AR platform, you need a 308 lower and an entirely new upper receiver... which would not be cheap, all to shoot a round that's significantly more expensive.

But obviously anyone who doesn't do this must have been repetedly dropped as a baby...

thoughts on a dissipator style rifle?

carbine length barrel, mid or rifle length gas, up to you but traditionally rifle length. FSB / gas block pushed up to accommodate the extra length. less recoil, all that shiit.

softest shooting rofle IMO is a 14.5 midlength with a pinned comp/brake. Also tuned with the right buffer.

i imagine a 18in with a rifle length system with a comp/brake would be pretty TST too.(damn apparently you can do a 16 with a rifle system too)

Also... 6.5 Creedmoor is SO much better, in every way, compared to .308. Only edge .308 has is terminal ballistics. Important for hunting I would guess, but precision is 6.5 Creeds game.

Agree with bold, but for reliability it seems unwise to run reloads in a firearm you'd be using for self defense/HD.

INB4 308 is major overkill for HD.

Intradesting. I've always wanted to get rid of my FSB and put a longer rail on, like 14-15". Might as well throw a new gas on too.

1. you cannot prove with any level of credibility that factory loaded ammunition has less FTFs than someone's reloads

2. so 60 cpr ammo is referring to chitty 2-4 moa ammo? what is the point of shooting large frame inaccurate ammo?

3. yes i am totally saying you can put a 6.5C round into a 308 wylde chambered AR and shoot it without issue lol

4. lets go over the past events

i originally state: literally offers zero ballistic advantage over 223 at 2-3 times the cost....i think most people with 46 chromosomes would assume im referring to the round's properties while in flight but thats ok, i'll let it slide

you claim: it "will fuk sh_t up", referring to some real world application of shooting live mammals

i state: its stupid to shoot 308 out of a large frame AR when you can shoot a much better round out of the same frame

you: babble about how my reloaded rounds are less reliable than some factory 2-4 MOA ammo

i just get a good chuckle about trying to argue some real world "fuks sh_t up" argument for 308 when I'd bet every damn magazine and box of ammo i own that you fukkin shoot at paper targets off of a wooden bench at the range, printing no better than 3 MOA

what are you "destroying" that warrants 308 over other superior performing rounds?

.223 does not meet minimum caliber requirements (.23 or .24, for example) for deer hunting in half dozen or more states. the laws may have changed in some relatively recently, I don't know, but it wasn't necessarily a hunter preference for .308 over .223, just the laws.

edit: now not sure if you were saying preference to .308 over .223 or 6.5c. disregard post ty

I don't understand why you're bringing up cheap machine gun ammo when people are discussing precision rifles.

"What are you shooting out of your $5000 precision rig to get these **** groups, Bob?"

"Well, Jim, even though I'm 5 grand into the gun, I'm too cheap to shoot $1.00/rd ammo instead of 60 cpr ammo..."
