The m&p sport 2 isn't a bad gun and it'll surely be fine for range playing and all that. But colt is the glock 19 of ARs. It's tough to beat for a 1 and only AR. Plus resale on them is great. If you get one now and there's ever a panic again (when, not if) you can double your money.

Just got an unexpected surprise . . . an email came through from this woman who leads a team that we just implemented an application for. They kind of dropped it on us as an emergency and a couple of us have been busting our butts to get it in place. Way more work than they said it would be, but we've been making it happen. She put me in for an internal award that we have and it was apparently approved . . . so she wrote a nice note to my boss and I got a little cash bonus. Then my boss emailed his boss about it. Not a ton of cash, but better than a kick in the butt.

Yea I pretty much choose the rifle and scope as a dedicated pair, I.e long bbl flat shooting cartridge is getting a good quality long range optic with target turrets. I recently bought a DPMS on sale because it was too cheap to pass up, because it's not getting a good trigger that's got a vortex spitfire (also on sale) mounted on it. So that will pretty much stay in that configuration. Hoping to sight that in this weekend. I really like that optic so far even though I haven't sighted it in. That 1moa center dot looks like it should be pretty precise as far as my eyes will work. I just don't mess with moving scopes around. I have to drive 2 hours to shoot long range so it's pretty much a process to have to sight a rifle in. If I could walk out my back door and have 600 yard range I'd be more inclined to tinker with things I guess.

During my research on uppers yesterday i ran across one jackass on one board that has it in my head that keymod/mlok guards are inherently flimsy and not the best choice for mounting sights or optics.

Any truth to this?

Why would you mount an optic to the hand guard?

They are not flimsy at all and are plenty sturdy for lights and accessories.

Morning dudes. got the bore snakes for my rifles yestrrday and surprisingly the rifles were not that dirty for not having the barrels swabbed in prob 1k rounds each. We new gun today can not wait to go get it.

Ive never used a bore snake, I'm sure it gets powder residue out, but I cannot imagine it would do anything to actually clean a barrel. Need solvent to loosen up the copper deposits. I usually run a patch with kroil, let that work for a few, then a a nylon brush, then patches until they come out clean, then a patch with just a tiny bit of oil if its going to be stored. The hardened carbon and copper from bullet jackets can be in the rifling and require a little more elbow grease to remove in my experience. A good bore guide and tipton rods keep from damaging anything. Always clean from the breach to the bore.

How much of a rush is actual mountain climbing? I can only imagine the sense of accomplishment of reaching the summit on certain climbs.

I didn't use any solvent cause i was in a rush between getting home from work and going to school, so tonight ill have to get the swabs and cleaner out, but the snakes were pretty cool they had a 2-3 inch section where there were brass bristles in a cylindrical arrangement inside the fibers of the snake that penetrated out to "scrub" the inside of the barrel. I think a bit of solvent and it should do a p good job of knocking any debris loose that could be impregnated into the barrel

tempted to do a stencil on my AR myself, but....i'm also a perfectionist when it comes that stuff. If it doesn't come out perfect I'm gonna hate it. Might just pay a couple hundo to have the local shop do a Cerakote stencil job on it and do it right the first time.
