I'm running a strictly stereo setup. I still run a pair of DCM speakers I bought in highschool. The highs are harsh if you push them too hard. Otherwise they still sound as good as they did twenty years ago. They aren't high end at all. They are just a pair of work horse speakers with thick heavy bass down to 40hz and the mids are nice and present even if they aren't perfect.

They are far from my ideal. At home I just listen to music differently than I would in a studio. If I want to get in to the details I use headphones.

I don't think I'll ever get into the need for headphones. I just want the best sound I can muster out of set of towers and a sub in my living room that I can.

Right now I have a pair of the older version of the Polk RTiA7s bi-amped and a Polk 12" sub.
