Rolls-Royce to Power Revamped B-52s – Market Talk

9/24/21, 5:28 PM
1828 ET - Rolls-Royce beats out incumbent Pratt & Whitney and GE in a contest to supply new engines for the U.S. Air Force fleet of B-52 bombers, a deal that could be worth up to $2.6B. The UK company will supply more than 600 of the F130 engines built at its Indianapolis facility that it said could keep the bomber flying for another 30 years or more.
The youngest B-52s still in active service are about 58 years old. These are the “H” models, the last of which were delivered to the Air Force in 1962

Pretty remarkable service time.

I keep hearing about reading all of these traditional books on investing. However, how much have the fundamentals changed so that the old principles are no longer applicable?

Fundamentals haven’t changed. Just the things that investors consider important have shifted. In a world with too much money you invest differently than a world where money is tight and liquidity is a problem.

You will discover that all the old principles are the same. Markets are just "same chit, different year" over and over again.

Sorry if I missed people talking about petv

Anyone in on it? Actually fixing osteoarthritis by injecting a collagen replacement instead of pain meds is pretty crazy. I’m assuming investing in them with the pet company won’t carry over to whatever they end up doing on the human side of things?

valuation-wise, $41b market cap would put UPST equal to Experian… Upstart is $25b today.

I feel like anything above $41b is a blow-off.

It is a great thing for China. Potentially an issue for US based groups with significant exposure. Keeping in mind the concern this is only the first domino to fall. Said groups taking big losses may end up liquidating big portions of US equities to shore up their balance sheet. As far as I know Blackrock has a MASSIVE amount of China exposure. Black rock has 9 trillion AUM so if they start getting chunked hard they will likely need some funds shifted to cover losses/double down. They already called upon their investors to "triple down" on Chinese funds. I haven't looked into it well enough to really speak to size of positions or anything like that. Regardless I've got puts ready to roll so I don't think I'd get hammered too hard.

and you think you are the only MF'er here providing value?!?

Pretty sure I've been posting about TGA since I tripled down at $0.40 cents. You take credit for me bringing SOFI to your attention. Next thing I know you'll start preaching PAYO is going to be the next paypal

But srs boyos why tf is oil still going up and hovering $75 now??

I'm up to 24 calls now so nothing crazy. But hopefully we see some solid price movement in the coming weeks/months or hopefully it at least chills till spring.

A parabolic rise is nearly always followed by a parabolic drop.

There is a formula: stock will lose 40% of its value within 1/2 the time it took to get from liftoff to peak.

So buy calls on ATER got it fam

EDIT to avoid double post:

SunAC which was a fairly highly speculative real estate group in China with half the liabilities as Evergrande is under intense pressure now too. This could legitimately be a Lehman bros moment for China. Chinese Gov't told banks not to lend to these big real estate companies and I think China is about to find out what happens if you don't intervene and prop up real estate. This is what the beginning of a liquidity crunch would look like. Granted the US isn't having that issue though. Srs discussion point boyos how much US equity do you think Chinese companies/people have? How much real estate? It isn't crazy in the US, but in Canada wealthy Chinese business people have a lot of property… this could easily spill over. I don't think it would be silly to at least have a small hedge against something causing a big scare srs.
