Alts taking a beating. If I wasn't so lazy I'd sell them all for a couple of days.

Everyone starts somewhere. Once people get bored of BTC they will find their way to alts. Also, what isn't a hype coin lol. I'm not planning to hold this chit for years bro. Just hope for a 2-3x and gtfo.

I'll be honest, I'm a little nervous about the overnight drop again.

Bitfinex confirmed to be a shady as f*ck exchange. Initially IOTA transfers were free. Now they tack on a 0.5 MIOTA transaction fee on a coin which is praised for having zero transaction fees, no mining and no blockchain. IOTA exists because of that feature, you had it as zero transaction fees when people were buying in but now youโ€™re still going to charge a fee regardless?

F*ck Bitfinex.

Well it makes sense. Tangle does not actually work yet. You are dealing with a coordinator with the worlds $hittiest wallet.

Maybe you should read up on Iota a little more.

Edit, sorry this comes off a bit condescending, What I mean is, iota transactions are not free. I haven't seen them free anywhere. The Iota Tangle is not yet functioning properly, so transactions are not cost less and seamless

Intersting article
Quantum computing could someday far surpass the processing power of todayโ€™s classical computers. And that thought has some cryptographers, and cryptocurrency users, worried.

But Googleโ€™s quantum computing expert John Martinis wants to put their minds at ease.

At a major crypto event at University of California Santa Barbara this week, Martinis talked about why it could take a decade or more to build a quantum computer. โ€œThis is really, really hard, way harder than building a classical computer,โ€ he said.

Breaking Public Key Cryptography

Cryptographers are concerned because if researchers build a quantum computer that outperforms classical supercomputers, due to Shorโ€™s algorithm, it could break RSA encryption, a tool used to secure data transmission on the Internet.

In a similar vein, quantum computing could also break the digital signatures used in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. And the upshot of that is not good.

โ€œThat would mean you could forge transactions, and steal coins,โ€ explained Bernardo David, a cryptographer at Tokyo Institute of Technology.

One cryptographer, who wanted to remain nameless, thought breaking a digital signature would require "government level" spending, adding that the first breakage would likely be a stunt pulled off on a $50 million machine.

โ€œMaybe it will take months, maybe it will take minutes, but it will be a very expensive operation to break one signature," he said. "Once they break one then weโ€™ll start talking how long it will be for a criminal to do it for essentially a dollar.โ€

While another expert, who also asked to remain nameless, scoffed at the idea completely, waving a hand and saying by the time quantum computers become available, public key cryptology will have advanced too far for it to matter.

โ€œIn the grand scheme of risks and threats, it will take 20 to 30 years to be a real threat and by that time, we will have better signature schemes,โ€ he said.

If that is true, Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies should be reasonably safe from quantum computing for a long time to come.

Donโ€™t tell me about IOTA man. I know about the wallet and the issues. I know about the Tangle spam. I know about the issues with seed generation. I know everything there f*cking is to know about IOTA. Iโ€™ve even spoken to the founder directly. I know what meeting theyโ€™re having when for the next 2 months. I know things many people donโ€™t RN.

The Tangle works. Iโ€™ve used it over the past week. Itโ€™s just inundated by spammers issuing zero IOTA transactions and by Bitfinexโ€™s full node being slow as f*ck in general. This does not mean you tack on a transaction fee in a coin whoโ€™s very ethos is zero transaction fees.

It works. There are transactions happening right now and have been for days. I have a balance on the wallet. Itโ€™s just slow man and this coin has been on the receiving end of crazy FUD from Bcash/ETH guys feeling threatened. No worries man, sorry but that just struck a nerve with me because all Iโ€™ve done is read about it for the past 48h-72h.
