I currently drive a BMW, but could honestly see this being the last car I purchase(or anything in the future will be extremely modest and purely a cheap form of transportation). I plan on being an urban dweller for the foreseeable future, and I can ride a bike to most commitments and can take a bus for $8 to the airport whenever needed.

Although having a nice car is kinda cool, it really just is a money pit(every single possible cost related to a car is an absolute azz fuking). Gas is $50 per fillup, parking is $150/mo, Insurance is $1000 every 6 months, new tires are $200 each, any type of repair is at least $500. Eventually you just realize that the "juice isn't worth the squeeze".

All things considered, I'm probably spending $10k in after-tax income per year to operate a car that I barely actually need. Although my car is really nice, it doesn't get me laid.

lol wtf that's your own damn fault for buying a bmw brah. i drive an 06 accord, $27 to fill up, insurance is $45 a month, new tires are $400 for all four, never had any repairs... just oil changes

And if I buy another car, this is likely closer to what I'd consider getting. Still though, you probably spend ~$3000 in after-tax income to operate a car that would be barely necessary if you live in a city.

... and that would depend on the city you live in. i live in downtown right now and need a car to commute.

per year

$1,000 in gas
$550 on insurance
$125 on oil changes per year, 4 times.
$150 bucks on random stuff like air filter, wipers, fluids

haven't had any repairs.. that's less than 2k lol even at 2k thats like $166 a month to own and drive a car. people spend more than that on starbucks

i used to have a 11 3 series, was not worth, get something cheaper
