I notice a lot of people that report numbers are just sales or gross numbers, never the actual net take home pay.

I agree, hence i'm pursuing logic programming for automated processes. Nothing wrong with doing what you love, and if you're ok with the wear on your body from hard labor, more power to you. I prefer to have the option to stop lifting, motorcycling or mountain biking at my leisure if i'm wearing myself thin. If you work a trade you'd have to decide between resting your back or having a meal.

When will miscers just realize that no matter what field or industry you're in you will always have people in the lower end, average, and higher end of the spectrum.
Can't live a lifestyle like OP posted if you're making an average salary in any field. That home is literally a 10k/day penthouse.

lol this. CS major who made it out alive (barely), but in reality most guys my age that I took CS classes w/ have awful lives.

CS has an advantage over (almost) all other majors: You have unlimited potential. You can invent a product with zero capital and get rich. Unlikely, sure, but possible. In most fields this just isn't possible.

But CS is the same as (almost) all other majors in that...almost no one does this. Rat in a cage. A very awkward, mountain dew filled, obese, autistic cage.

Let's put it this way, I get emails from head hunters every week for other jobs doing software development. Anyone working at a chit company, or a chit city , even doesn't have to work in a city, has options of changing all of it with STEM degrees. I know guys living in the country that works from home for contractors making over $100k. The IT industry barely have dress codes anymore. A local fortune 500 company allows shorts and T-shirts to work. It just depends on where you are and what you want. It's that flexible in the STEM careers now.

Actually, a lot of tradies (mostly those who own a business) have these kind of 5+/10 houses.

Friend's dad own a painting business and has a two story house and a pool. It was renovated and most of the work was done by himself and his buds.
