Your problem is that you assume everybody's situation is the same as yours. My parents WANTED me to stay at home and save for a deposit on a house. They would've been disappointed if I moved out and started wasting money renting a property I didn't own. I don't know what world you live in, but saving for a deposit on a house whilst paying ridiculous rent each month is borderline impossible.

Have you also considered the possibility that they liked me living there? My mum was in tears the day I moved out. I would also happily have my parents live at my house any time (100% srs) Some people are closer to their family than others.

Probably pointless reasoning with you, but I tried.

Fully moved out at 19. Only $490/mo rent & $300/mo car&insurance, and tuition. Going to school full time, work every other semester for my EE program now and make more than a lot of people who already graduated with lame majors.

If you're a hard worker I'd say you should be independent by 21. I couldn't imagine living at home till mid-20s, but then again my house sucked.

I was thinking something similar, he defo has a bad relationship with his parents. Poor kid just needs a hug.

I'll give you some cliffs of my personal situation. Maybe you'll open your dense mind if it's broken up in easy digestible sentences.

- Parents wanted me to stay at home and save as much as possible, so I could put a hefty deposit on a house.

- I saved up 27,000 whilst studying and working. They were happy. I was happy.

- I bought my own house with my gf last year. They are proud whether you like it or not.

- The end.


Have a great time pissing 700+ down the drain each month on rent.

That is the biggest thing. People talk about how rent is a waste of money but the freedom and the "growing up" you do while living on your own makes it worth it. Who cares if you are only saving a little bit of money when you are 20 years old. Put like $50 a week into a savings account (and investments) and spend the rest. Have some fun. I know a few people that did the whole "I'm gonna save all my money and live with my parents while I'm young so I can buy a house but most of them went insane and just blew all their money on travelling or a new car.
Your early 20's to mid 20's should be about setting yourself up career wise and living your life. Mid 20's to 30's start setting yourself up financially.
If you do save money in your early 20's put it into higher risk investments. If you lose that money who cares still lots of time to make it back.

I am 24.5 and still live with my parents , have payed a measlie 300 euros every month since I turned 19 and started working

I know I have to move out before I turn 30 , I just don't know how an autistic person like myself will handle it , srs

Constantly being at home makes me feel like a loser though , but I don't make a lot of money and have no idea how to make more . We have thin walls here and I have slept with earplugs for the last 7 years because yeah you know .. If i'm not working i'm in my bedroom but I can hear my parents talking downstairs all the time and it's getting annoying sometimes . when I have the house by myself and they on vacation to somewhere I feel a lot better . I'm just a depressed mess here for years

I'm 29 moved out when I was 24. But I have moved back in because my parents are sick and my brother has seizures ao I have to take care of them. The last thing on my mind is freedom and banging sloots to prove my independence.

If you're done with college and have been employed for a year or more, it's time to move out IMO. But I don't judge when people live with their folks beyond that, as people have their reasons (saving $$, taking care of parents, etc.)

Speaking from people I know 25-30 seems to be the average. Modern UK housing prices have ****ed this generation and unless you stay at home (or live in a house share/bedsit) until you get a good 30-50 grand for a house deposit you will probably be stuck in a rent trap forever.
