I got back into gaming (FPS mainly) last year with high hopes to complete in eSports in either Halo 5 or Battlefield: Hardline, but didn't have the time to put in to Halo 5, and Hardline never took off like I hoped it would.
I wish I had a simple solution for you but getting to be a pro level player or even a pro-am player in e-sports takes an incredible amount of dedication. You see players grinding it out 6-8 hours a day easily to get better. Now, if you just want to play competitively for the sake of it, then there are somethings you can do.

1. Don't play Battlefield: Hardline. Competitive scene for that game, or any Battlefield game for that matter, is completely dead.
2. If you're going to play CSGO competitively then you have to get it now, play your ass off, learn every smoke, pop flash, molotov, and plant spots available in every map. This also includes pre-aiming spots, boost jumps, movement techniques, recoil patterns, etc. Play a ton of matchmaking in competitive mode after getting to rank 2, try to get to a decent begginner rank (Nova 3 - MG2), and then buy a premium account for a third party competitive client like FaceIt, ESEA, or CEVO where the actual pro and pro-am players game so you can grind for 6 months to a year to get some recognition. In those third party clients you can easily find people who will be looking for teams to play the casual 100 dollar online tournament, or pugs/scrims against other teams.

3. Halo would be the same as CSGO, but a smaller scale since the Halo comp scene has been in a decline for a while now.

4. Pick up Overwatch. The game is relatively new so it means that the competitive meta/scene isn't "there officially" but it's growing at an exponential rate, and Blizzard is giving it support to make it an e-sport.

Feel free to ask for my steam if you start playing CSGO.

Just how it is..same with asmr..if people dont get it..theyl think its some kind of fetish
Nothing shameful about the whole CSGO thing. I've been following the competitive CSGO scene for the last 6-7 months, and it's and incredible e-sport to watch and play. Also, the whole skins economy makes it a lot more exciting since you can bet, trade, or sell them.

Team Liquid vs Luminosity in the semi's at MLG Columbus 2016 was such an insane series I almost fainted watching TL choking 2 times in a row.

Hopefully Liquid scores big @ the ECS finals and the ESL major. Their new lineup for those events is sick.

I am #132 in halo 5 breakout and I was #7 in the halo wars 2 beta for a little bit. I play halo sometimes 8-14 hours a day. I work 40-52 hours a week and still have time to freestyle bmx (can backflip,540, grind handrails, wallrides etc)

I don't really have time for anything else though. Usually put errands on hold, and I dont have a girlfriend so all my time is spent working, riding bikes, and gaming.

People still ****ing play Yu-Gi-Oh??

Holy **** lol. I played that **** when I was a kid like 12 years ago wow. I still have all my cards somewhere back home I think

Most embarrassing hobby for me is probably video games. I used to be really nerdy and into it back when I was a teenager but after age 17 or so when I started lifting and working and doing other **** outside the house, it declined. I still play them but no where near as much or in depth.

Also, photography. I like to take really artsy/hipster esque photos. Especially nature and urban type of photos.

I don't think there is a 'geeky/nerdy' hobby I don't do. I collect comics, play RPGs (both pen and paper and video games), collect and watch anime, I am into CCGs and wargaming as well....even if I can't afford half the Gamesworkshop ****...those bastards.

Won three magic tournaments this year with my OP blue wizard deck.

Gardening- Brahs that own their own house know this feel. I have enough blackberry bushes to fill up several 5 gallon buckets. Dat dere fresh veggies. Its fun watching the progress.

Coding- I like to practice coding. Mainly front end design stuff. I am not a computer science guy its just mainly out of interest.

Racquetball- I have played in tournaments. Its all about strategy and floor placement. I have got destroyed by 75 year olds that had great game plans.

I often like to spy in peoples windows at night and jack off. (not srs)

I've had my share of nerdy hobbies and recently got into a new one.

Used to Airsoft before it was as mainstream as it is today. Actually stopped once it became really popular because I didn't like the type of people it brought in. Still have some crap but haven't gone out in over a year.
Used to video game binge. BF2 and COD4 on PC. So many hours wasted. Also Starcraft broodwar.
Used to play YuGiOh back in 7-9th grade.

Now my hobbies are as follows from coolest to lamest
Autocross/Road Coarse/1/4 mile drag. Picked up an M3 specifically for it.
Golf
Scale Model building WW2 era tanks. Honestly got into this for something to focus on and help with my ADD/ADHD. Was almost all set up then moved and haven't started back up again but I want to.
Still game but not for hours on end.

EDIT* Didn't really think about it, but my fiance and I collect a lot of Batman stuff. Posters, Shirts, Slippers, Key Chains, Pins etc. Surprisingly though the only toy I have is a Small LEGO Batman set. Will most likely put some Batman Decals on M3
*Updated* If you can't hit a 320 yard drive, are you even a man?

I have a couple.

1. Watches. I've always been interested in them since I was a kid. When I got older I loved reading about the history of watch making, the different brands, the horological achievements, etc. Most people think it's crazy to spend more than $xx amount of dollars on a watch when your phone and $20 drug store watch can tell the time more accurately. They don't understand or appreciate the intricacies and detail that goes into a nice watch.

2. WWE. I'm a huge wrestling fan. I watch Raw religiously every Monday night and have done so for years. Get together with friends on Sundays when there is a PPV. Even went to Wrestlemania in Dallas this year lol.

I don't consider them embarrassing as I am who I am but I have several comic book fitness shirts (Thor - does thou even lift, Deadpool - training to kill francis and rescue vanessa) that I wear to the gym. I watch anime, watch Yu-Gi-Oh/Digimon with my 3 year old and play Destiny on Xbox one often with my younger brothers. I'll also be buying Pokemon Go when it's released because **** it I can! I'm also a big car guy who can work on just about everything and has built several cars by himself along with tuned them on my own.

I'm comfortable with who I am and if a girl doesn't like it tough **** lol

I wouldn't call it a hobby but I love Anime and there are 2 kinds of people in the world. Those who watch it and those who think you're a weirdo for watching it. I also use to game for 8+ hours a day but that's behind me now. I'm trying to live a more active life, now my Xbox is only used for Netflix and my gaming computer is only used for Misc, Amazon and pron.

I recently got into magic the gathering. I have hundreds of cards in a short amount of time and have yet to play someone else (I don't count the cousin I play with) Honestly I think I prefer the gamble of pulling an expensive card over the actual game.
