Only way I could finish pharmacy school is to live with my parents. Sucks but no other choice. I realistically still could make it work if I moved out at 18 or 21 but it'd be a lot harder

not talking about rent either unless your parents legit need help paying the bills. but you should be paying for your car/all car expenses, phone bill, doing your own laundry, cleaning up after yourself and helping out w/ chores around the house w/o being asked. ie take out the trash when it's full, do your own dishes, empty the dishwasher, cut the grass, shovel snow etc...

So true. Especially in this economy with stagnant wages. My best friends just moved back in with their parents so they could afford their wedding and a house after. Paying rent where they were would not have allowed them to do that at all. It's great to have a supportive family to help you out. A lot of people would kill for that.

I live on a hill and pay $1200. I wouldn't pay $1200 for just a regular apt. I was committed to finding a place that had a view. Otherwise what is the point of having a house if you got no view. Your house will just be depressing as ****.;

It's a lot harder to move out of your parent's house if you're not living in a city.

You need to pay for a car/insurance/gas, it's harder to find roommates or temporary housing, and it's really hard to find a non-professional job that pays over $7-$8/h.

Whereas I just moved to a major city and found a cheap place super quick, don't need a car, and all I had to do was walk downtown to quickly find a job that pays $10+/ h.

You must live in a state that has a low cost of living. Come to California. The unemployment rate here is over 40% and almost everyone I know that's over 21 still lives with their parents because either they can't find a job, or they can't find a job that pays enough for them to afford their own place. If you can make it in California then you can make it anywhere.

My friend 26 still lives at parents home, another friend 27, still lives at home, one of my other 26 yrs old friend lives at moms basement.

At the end of the day no one gives a ****ing **** ok.

I could never do it as much as I love my family.

I did go through struggles as a college kid when I first moved out but those struggles were the GOAT of times especially with the experiences with people you meet. Plus I need my own space, I like to have my friends over/parties/drinking with teh homies and relaxing and of course girls.

Those struggles forced me out of the comfort zone. That experience > saving money for the typical life you'll be living the rest of your life.

I couldn't wait to move out and I've worked with my family for the past 15 years but I as a young man knew they needed their space as well as I did. So.....are we stuck in the 90s now? Here's the economical truth buddy. Student tuition is up. Interest rates on student loans are whack as fuk. Wages are stagnant as hell and as a result, I'm stuck in the same spot. Manufacturing jobs are out to China so service jobs are all around here which equals dealing with piece of chit customers on the daily. When payday comes around, I actually get paid. I don't have to pay rent, electricity, food (except for protein powder), water, & heating.

Meanwhile, people my age gotta scrap to make rent. LMAO! Why do things gotta get tough as soon as one turns 18 or gets the hell outta high school?


Call me a lazy boy or a peter pan, but at least I'm safe.

i live with the rents still.

i save 1500 a month on rent alone........ (denver is ****ED ALL THE WAY UP ATM COST OF LIVING IS INSANE)
im forever alone and i cant get a girlfriend anyways, so when i do live by myself im pretty ****ing lonely most the time...
my dog has a huge backyard to play in.
have a backyard with a power rack so i can work out any time of the day for howver long i want.

im not a bum, ive got money saved up... just dont see the point of moving out until i meet a nice girl, which will probably never happen at this point seeing as how ive already asked out over 6500 women but been rejected by all of them.

why would i waste 2000 dollars a month just so i can be "alone"

Every person living at home would be happy to move out if we could afford it.

It's nice to see that our generation is waking up to the reality that it was robbed by the baby boomers through all these entitlements that we have to pay for but will never get.

In like 1970 the average wage in the Us was like 16000 a year for a job washing dishes per person. Cars were like 5000 and houses were like 50,000.

In 2016 the COMBINED household income is like 50,000. Cars are like 25,000-30,000 and houses are 300,000-1000000.

No wonder no one can afford to move out.

35 and i live at home

my mom used to say its going to be great when i find a nice girl and i move out to live with her

but she has seen the progress of me going from a full head of hair in my teens to a norwood 3 at 19 and gradually norwood 4a where i currently am and im pretty sure she has accepted the fact i will never be leaving home
