Two cant live as cheaply as one, of course not. But you can definitely live with higher profits than one.

(just using normalish figures for maths sake)

wife: 20K
Husband: 30K
income: 50K (which is like what, 3K after taxes?)

All fixed bills, like mortgages, electricity, council tax etc you will have to pay regardless,so the only extra costs from having a wife there would be food, fuel for her to get to work - thats it. Which is probably like 200-300 a month, yet shes bringing say 2K a month into the household.

I'm on the phone atm, so if this doesnt make sense then thats why.

Inheritance a long shot, but still worthy of taking it into account. If you parents have like 300K networth between them at 70 years old, then yes it will get eaten up in elderly care

I'm currently an engineering manager for a large American multinational. General discipline is automation engineering, more specifically advanced data analysis and optimization software for process control systems. In Western Germany and BeNeLux this means most of my "local" customers are in the specialty chemicals industry.

Maybe you have me mistaken with someone else? I'm definately not bragging about going to Uni for 4 years, 2 years post-grad, then working 10+ years to make $100k brah. I think I made $18.5k the first year after my post-grad, then in the 30's. This was after the dot com bust. tfw a few years earlier guys were getting $65k fresh out of school!

I'm not going to post any salary slips or spoon pics.I'm not an outlier.PM me if you're serious and want some specific information. $100k is totally attainable in US, Canada, Europe, or Gulf States (just lol if you can't make $100k in the gulf).

school til 18 plus 6 years post school education(who was student loans)
engineering manager (advanced data analysis, optimization software)

So, you are telling me that none of that requires above average intelligence or hard work? GTFO

(srs, congrats if you are not frauding(3.5k posts in two years on the misc tells me you probably are but whatever..)but you are demonstrating my whole argument..it takes a lot of talent, hard work, and indeed luck to have the chance to earn those numbers. Would that have happened if you were born in Timbuctoo? Or somewhere that charged a lot more for higher education? Or if you had gone into a declining sector like investment banking or petrochemicals? Or if you had been born a few iq points less smart? Answer, obviously not, you are indeed an outlier, through luck, skill, hard work and or intelligence, and it simply doesn't apply to 95% of people and never will (including myself). Live your life spending as if you are someday going to wake up and be ceo 10k a day, and you can drink and eat yourself to an early coronary cos god knows you cant ever retire)

I have always been very lazy, but quite intelligent and yes fortunate. My brother, on the other hand, is lazy and of average IQ with no post-secondary. He works at a chemical plant and probably clears ~$120k but he's working a lot of overtime. Moved form general labour into the mainenance side.

Did you check out the automation.com link? Process control, automation, energy, pulp&paper, petrochemicals, refining, mining, chemicals... they all require distributed control systems, processes, maintenance, engineers, operators. It's like my finger is pointing at the $100k and you're focusing on the finger!
Here is a breakdown featuring education and years experience in the automation industry.:

I believe that the results are more or less accurate as per our pay scales and my experience. You can see that a fellow with HS and 5 years education is "on the map". I realize that in the USA access to higher education is an issue that I have no great answer for... maybe get your tech degree and get a job in the field. Again be willing to move. There are truck drivers and cooks up in the diamond mines in arctic canada making ~$90k. Move to Northern Alberta or Doha (as I mentioned). This Metis guy makes $150k :http://www.fortmcmurraytoday.com/201...erage-statscan

If you're so lazy as to sit in your Mom's basement or unwilling to move from "timbuctoo" then my answer is not for you. It's more of an every-day laziness, not a life hampering basement dwelling FA neckbeard listless rotter laziness.

I suspect OP means "7 figures" rather than 6.... As in is paid a million a year or more. OP has already admitted to being talentless and lazy so we can forgive him that small decimal point error.

LOL, NO.

I'd bet 95% of the time, the woman in a relationship spends more than she makes and the man saves less because of it.

-Brunch every Sunday $100/month
-New curtains every season $200/season
-Nails twice a month $50/month
-Starbucks pumpkin spice latte every other day $78.75/month
-New shoes once a month $100/month
-Coach purse payment amortized over a year $120/month
-Shampoo and Conditioner $40/month

$538.75/month on chit that doesn't matter.

No, I didn't look at some self responding meaningless survey.

Let's just pick up on one thing in your blather. 6 years of school. How did you pay for that? There's only 4 options.

1. Higher ed is cheap or free where you studied (Germany?)
2. Parents
3. You worked through college(yay full time job while studying easy yeah?)
4. You had/have student loans up the ar se.

That list basically already disqualifies 90% of the population. You have totally, totally missed the point of the whole thread. I, and most people, aren't interested in working hard. 6 years at college eating macaroni cheese? No thanks.

Btw I don't know anyone even moderately successful who spends any time at all on social media. Your post history tells me all I need to know sunshine.

Billionaire landowner the Duke of Winchester died today at 64.

The The Financial Times said one of its reporters once asked the duke what advice he would give to a young entrepreneur wanting to succeed. He said, "Make sure they have an ancestor who was a very close friend of William the Conqueror."

His 25-year-old son Hugh Grosvenor — a godfather to young royal Prince George — will inherit the title and the Grosvenor Estate, which owns 300 acres (121 hectares) in some of London's wealthiest areas.

The Grosvenor family traces its roots back to the Norman invasion of England in 1066.

Why would you want to sleep in on a Sunday when you can go out and pay $52 dollars for eggs?

What attitude are you talking about? He's completely right. You made a very misleading thread title as click bait. And you are not even rich, how are you going to tell other people how to get rich?

I came into the thread expecting to hear the thoughts of a wealthy person. Not to hear the ramblings of some random poverty miscer. "almost nobody makes 6 figures" is not advice. I first hit the 6 figure mark 4 years into my career.

If you had titled your thread something like "ways to live comfortably on low income" then he would be out of line. But no, you just wasted people's time with deception.

Didn't say rich. Said wealth. For the vast majority of people 7 figures is wealth. And 95% of people won't ever earn 6 figures. Of course you are a miscer so I realise you are fantastically successful like everyone else here. Yawn.

Combination of all 4 m8, also 5. Scholarships.
B.Sc. was relatively cheap (compared to US) and I worked at a grocery store. It was unionized (brb can't get fired, brb guaranteed hours, brb fixed pay scale, brb good pay, brb brb) and some of my classmates who got in sooner than me made almost $20/h in there near the end of their studies. I lived at home with my parents to avoid loans for my undergrad (brb cheap, brb no sloots, brb drive to Uni like a chump, brb not on campus).
Post-grad was a big loan. I got remission on several thousand (thanks gov't), and paid the rest off.

tfw so dumb as to slave away at a minimum wage job
tfw no networking skills to find schemes or good jobs or good ways to make money
tfw no ability/interest to research where to go to school for cheaper, available scholarships, or programs like remission of student debt

In summary you can make 6 figures if you're lazy and clever, but not if you're lazy and dumb. Work smart not hard brahs.

Combination of all 4 m8, also 5. Scholarships.

Right, great, so what the hell does any of that have to do with my thread? I want to make money with as little effort as possible and I've been somewhat successful. You can make your own thread 'I'm smart, hardworking and lucky to have been born in Germany and have indulgent parents'. Go away.

In the UK, you'd be in the top 1-2% of earners with a six figure income. In the US, it's closer to 6-7% since the dollar is worth a chunk less. Big difference in achievability.

I was answering your stupid questions (which were off topic). You again asked a question, which warrants an answer. If you indeed want someone "out of your thread" you would stop quoting them and asking questions or simply ignore them. Your thread is hilarious because you are in it. The guy rotting in his basement dreaming how to get rich without outsmarting or outworking anyone... just lol !

p.s. not born in EU whatsoever. You're more priviledged than billions in this world, some of whom could come to your country and exceed your welath ten fold in a few years. just lol rotter.

You're too stupid to take any advice from people who have what you're looking for. My advice in point form:
- switch jobs (either functional area or location)
- be willing to move geographically
- use networking and research to identify the best opportunities
- build your salary and your wealth incrementally

makes endless misc posts through the middle of the working day..yeah u definitely ballin

We all know perfectly well how to work smart and hard. I don't want to, get it? You have no idea what I'm worth. I've done a lot better than a lot of people who have earned a lot more than me for a lot longer. This thread is for everyone on an average or below average salary that doesn't aim to get caught up in the rat race or work themselves to death but would like to be comfortable anyway. For someone who likes to go on about how smart they are, this is a very simple concept that you cant seem to grasp.

With the above strategy by the time you're 40 you should be making 6 digits salary, have 1 or 2 properties, and improving prospects for the future. It's not the laziest way, but if you enjoy your work it's really not that hard. I think people are just not willing to put in the time and effort to aquire wealth
I literally agree with all of this.

I'm about halfway through, just stepped up to a management position in a large corporation and I make 65k with huge opportunities for advancement. 45 hours a week + full time study at night but by 30 if I'm not making 6 figures I'll shoot myself.

Wish me luck brahs

These bullet points are spot on. When I was just starting out my career, I was advised to take these exact steps by people who had grown their income by an incredible amount in a short period of time. I followed their advice and that's how I am at the point I am at now, salary-wise.

Anyone reading this thread would be wise to follow this advice and not brush off the actual successful people in this thread as "e-statting miscers". I will add one caveat, regarding the first bullet point, I believe it only applies to white collar workers. Also, you have to put a LOT of thought & effort in, before switching jobs. You can make a lot of money very quickly if you do it right, but you have to be smart enough to recognize when is the right time to make a move, as well as which opportunities to take.

As this guy pointed out, you need to do your research. Every time I've made a move, I've spent months researching opportunities/seeking advice from people before taking a new job

The only way to become wealthy in life is to listen to the misc. We have the world's best CEOs and CFOs here. None of them make less than $150k per month.

"Lazy ways to acquire wealth..."

Cliffs of OP:
-LDAR - stay single and never have a long term GF or get married or have kids. These cost extra.
-"Live within your means" - go to work, then go home. Have no comforts or hobbies. Don't spend a DIME!

Ya, you might be right OP, but fuk that, I rather die with $0 in the bank and had the time of my life. WHen you die, your bank account doesn't go with you. If you don't have a family, then who the fuk gets your money? The government takes it back. You lived a boring lonely life all to just give it to the government who'd been taxing you all this time anyways.

*Edit - with that being said. Not saying be reckless. I company match 401k, have several months worth of income set aside in emergency. Save any extras and budget my fun in. It should be a balancing act, unless you truly want nothing else but a big bank account or on the other extreme be in vast amounts of bad debt.
"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit." -Will Durant
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure." - Marianne Williamson
"He who makes a beast out of himself gets rid of the pain of being a man." - Samuel Johnson
"It's not over UNTIL I WIN!" - John-leslie Brown (Son of Les Brown)

A coat is definitely retarded, as is a holiday when she's living paycheck to paycheck clearly

I used to think like this till a friend of mine retired from his 9-5 at 37. Now he owns a beachfront house in Puerto Rico and bangs HBBs on the regular.

Really changed my perspective on life and what we consider "time of my life".
